Help with Pontiac 3.1 V6 -92
« on: January 31, 2009 - 03:30:13 PM »
A friend needed to change o-ring on the distributor on his pontiac with a 3.1 L V6 -95. Problem is he forgot to mark the position.
Can somebody help find info regarding firingorder, where is cyl 1 located and can moore than one piston be at TDC at the same time like with our V8's?

Thanks //Per

there are 6 pistons spaced evenly at 120* apart so yes 2 pistons are at TDC at the same time , 1 is firing the other is at the top of exhaust stroke , the heads are offset slightly the one that is 1/2" closer to the front of the engine will be # 1 , not sure on the firing order but if the wires are still on the cap all you need is the wire to #1 plug , pull the plug & bump the engine over until you feel compression on #1 cylinder & point the rotor to that wire on the cap
 I hope this helps
