I just put in my new sending unit from Dave at roeville, it works great! anyone that needs parts I highly reccomend Dave, customer service is great.

Good job Dave!

After I changed my sending unit, it is the the thin metal strap that had come un-done, I had already sanded the output tube and clamped another ground to the unit and it worked for just about 6 months.

My question is this:
can someone solder or rivet the flat strap back in place on removed units? It took me about 2 hours to change it as I had to wait for gas to drain and then to try and get the sending unit back in as it tended to float a little, so it was difficult to keep straight at the gas tank housing.  But, I think if the strap was connected it would not have failed.  I will try and re-attach to my old unit and use a  volt meter to see if it works.

other thing you could try is to take a piece of wire and 2 small worm clamps and attatch it that way. then it is secure and wont move around with vibrations. I have done this and it works well, give you a solid ground by clamps, plus you wont have to remove anything

Dave,
the new unit works fine, I'm talking about the old unit, can a person solder the strap back on? I guess I really don't care since it is fairly cheap repair, just curious.
