seat belt holders
« on: February 02, 2009 - 01:33:26 PM »
I know on my 69 charger that the female buckles got clipped into a plastic holder while not in use to prevent them from clanging and sliding around.  Did 70 challys get these also?  Also, I know 70s have the one year only console with the rectangular opening in the back of the console.  I've heard that this space was a seat belt holder.... but for which ones?

Thanks,

Brian

That ugly slot in the back of the 70 console was for holding the female side seat belts for the front seats.   :screwy:

Ah, ok.  That makes sense then.  Did the rear female seat belts get locked into anything?

I have heard that some people (myself included) have 71 up consoles in their 70 Challengers. I was wondering what others are doing for a place to put the female seat belt part when not in use.  ???

So the female end of your front seatbelt is just a strap and not a strap within a hard plastic molding like in 71-74?

I was just wondering what other do with it when not in use. Mine seem to get lost between the console and the seat and are a pain to dig out.

Looks like this -

I would set mine on the console so I did not have to sit on it when I got in the car.

I grabbed some seat belt holders from an A-body since then, I will be using those once my car goes back together.

Ah, ok.  So those holders are an A and B body part then and was never installed on our E bodys from the factory. :2thumbs:

They were available on E-Bodies as part of the C15 option in 1970.

I do not know if the brackets themselves are the same on the A-bodies, but I do know the ones I have will work just fine for me.

Barry, I don't think our car has the C15 option.  What was that?

Does anyone elses 70 Challenger have just one female buckle? Mine has the lap belt and the shoulder belt, but only one female end. Can only use one or the other, not both at the same time.  :clueless:

Mine was that way when I got the car in 1973, so I would assume it came that way new. Don't know why anyone would have removed one buckle from each side.

Thanks for the info.
