 Abiut 20 years ago we used to race on a newly built deserted highway & my friend had a 69 Cuda fastback with a 440 dual quad running 13.0 & raced a guy with a 66 Chevelle 427 , so they raced o this highway & I was up at the top end just watching to see who came out ahead & by how much! Any way they came flying by me & the chevelle was in front by about 18" just as the  bottom end exploded in the 427  scattering rods & pistons all over the highway with sparks everywhere ,what a show, unfortunatly he didn`t want to run a rematch I wonder why ??? ;D :o

Hey Chryco!

Don't remember if I was there that nite, but was it out on highway 22X, before Deerfoot Tr. was built in the SE?

Or was that out in the NW part of the city?

You definately had a front row seat! 8)

Remember the time that bright Yella 68/69 Camaro blew his brand spanking new engine out on Highway 8, near Lower Springbank at 2 am.??? :D

Ahh the yelow camaro yup blew the engine 3-4 times, spit the whole trans out at the track blew a couple of exhaust valves right out of the exhaust pipes on deerfoot, definatly an expensive car to race  ::) It never hurt the diff though but it had a narrowed Dana 60!! ;D

it actually spit exhaust vavles out the back through the exhaust pipes ??

Leaned out on N2O & sparks were exiting the exhaust , he pulled it apart later & it had melted valves pistons etc :-/

My old Auto Mechanics teacher is a big bow-tie guy and me and him would go at it over what was better 427 tri power or the 440+6 and he said the LS6 would smoke a 426 Hemi !!!  Im glad to hear of that 427 Kill   Kill em all!!!

Cuda Guy, a 427 can smoke a Hemi, egine oil slomkes alot when you toss a bottom end. 8)
