Wow my trailer hitch broke in half
« on: February 04, 2009 - 04:18:45 PM »
Man talk about lucky

I drove just from San Fransisco to palm springs yesterday. Checked into the motel last night, got up to leave this morning and the trailer coupling was broke in 2.  Lucky for me I have tq stabilizer arms on my trailer. Im 22,000 plus poundws. Things could of gotten really messy fast. 400 bucks and 6 hrs later, I am on the road again. I will be in Arizona in about 30 minutes. Burning up the road on interstate I-10 now.

Yesterday morning I also broke a brake line in half so that was 170 b ucks to repair and 5 hrs down.  What a quest this journey has been.

But at least im alive. The broken hitch could of been fatal for me.

Sounds to me you will be passing by my house pretty soon. (within about 10 miles or so)

Do you think the stablizer bars were too tight or something like that caused the hitch to crack?

That must have been pretty scary to look at this morning.   :scared:

I'm about 80 miles from phoenix now making track to tuscon.   Trailer seems to be holding up now and I need to make up some time.   Arizona is 75 mph speed limit, so I am doing 77

Yer right tho, it could have been very bad. Temp on the rearview mirror says 78 degrees on it, but I have the ac on  with the windows up

Are you coming down I-10 all the way home. If so, give me a holler and I'll meet you and get you the 70 cuda tail light wiring harness I replaced.

Better luck to you and the rest of your trip.

I'm going to work in Lake Charles Louisiana for a week at a refinery. I may slip home to Alabama for a day not sure.   I wrote a note to Rob at MCG publishing letting him know I might stop buy and visit with them in Baton Rouge saturday.  Maybe I should cruise to Biloxi and see a well known biker family that has an angel for a daughter :clapping:.  Right now, I'm blowing doors off every 18 wheeler in sight making up for miles. Sorry I can't see AZ nick and others.

Anyone need a dash pad?   going right through Elpaso
