Sorry guys, I just never thought someone would try something like that. Don't worry, I will be more wary in the future. And I sent him a letter telling him that I haven't seen the car on there before.

Poofy? Who you callin' poofy?   :roflsmiley: OK, maybe I'm a little poofy.

Anywhoo, nothing to be sorry about lemming. We like to see cars. Cars owned by members, cars for sale, cars "not for sale", cars, cars, cars.

Putting that one up for discussion here is a learning experience if nothing else. We tend to be a "tell it like it is" group.

You never know.....maybe somebody can score that car for a good price....it does appear to be a real rallye anyway.

I emailed him yesterday and got a reply that the car appears to be sold for $8500.00

I guess not. I sent him another email telling him about myself watching Craig's list and not seeing it, but he hasn't mailed back. I doubt he will.

Hey ChallengerGary, I think I saw your purple Challenger on 820 a few weeks ago. I was driving a truck back to the shop and saw one just like the one in your pic. I love plum crazy purple. My car was actually plum crazy purple, but when it was restored in the early 90s they painted it yellow. I think purple is better on chally's then yellow. I'm gonna paint mine Graphite metallic with black T/A style stripes.

Have you got a fender tag or B/C sheet? Why not back to FC7?

Honestly, I don't know where to look for a fender tag. I don't have the build sheet. But when they painted it they didn't take everything completely off. So there is still places where you can see the purple, like under the trunk latch or up inside front of the car.

The fender mounted data plate should be easily seen on the drivers side inner fender. If you look at the battery now look past it towards right in line with the hood spring. You should either see a rectangular plate with screws attaching it to the flat part of the inner fender or a couple of holes where it used to be. It will have all the major options your car came with from the factory. It is not as good as a build sheet but pretty close.

OK, I found the tag. It was pulled off the car because they were going to blast it. Which one is the color code? I have been looking on the internet to find it, but I can't find a pic.

As stated above it should be FC7.  Usually towards the bottom of the tag

OK, I googled it and it says "Gold Metallic". Yuck! Anyway, I guess the Purple was it's second color. I also thought the car was an original 340, but it was a 318. It was a Rallye package though.

Post the whole tag and we'll decode it for you.

I actually found a decoder now. It took some looking though, all I could find was people asking about the tags. The one I found didn't have that paint code so I just googled it and found that code, which was Gold Metallic. Thanks for the offer though.

My car was a 318 3 barrel, Torqueflite, Full yellow vinyl, made on 4/27.
