Sunvisors
« on: February 07, 2009 - 03:12:16 PM »
On my '73 'Cuda, the sunvisors hit the rearview mirror when I put them down. How long should the sunvisors be? How far away from the A pillar do they mount? I suspect I either have the wrong visors or they are mounted in the wrong spot. They seem to be mounted too far away from the A pillar. Any help would be appreciated.

the 3 screw anchor is welded into the roof & there is only one place to mount them , they will slide down the steel rod though & may have slid up the rod too far

I tried adjusting the mirror. Both visors hit. I can adjust the mirror so that the driver's visor doesn't hit if no one is riding with me.
I want to pull the front molding off and see if the visors are screwed into the factory holes. I have a feeling they aren't.
Maybe the rearview mirror is wrong? Maybe it is wider because it came off a C body? I am just thinking out loud.

Relax, what you have is normal.  :grinyes:

I have a 70, but if I pull both down...at least one of them will bang the mirror.

Thanks. I didn't realize it was normal. It is very annoying!!Luckily my b body doesn't do that.
Is this a sign of the Chrysler fit and finish quality back then?

I just discovered that I have the wrong rear view mirror in the car. What is in there is 12 3/4" at its widest point. I am going to pick up a rearview out of a '72 'Cuda tomorrow. The guy measured it for me, it measures 8 3/4" wide. Just wanted too let everyone know what I found. This will solve my problem of the visors hitting the rearview mirror.
