Is This The Place To Buy?
« on: February 08, 2009 - 01:49:51 PM »
I am hoping by July that I will have found the Mopar I have been working so hard and long for.  However, I also realize I may not and as such, was wondering if Carlisle has any decent buys on cars. I know alot of vendors will jack their prices up the minute they get within a 100 mile radious of a car corral or vendor's market, but I was wondering if anyone has ever bought a car at Carlisle or anything for that matter and if so, what has been your experiences in doing so?
Ultimately, i would like to buy a car from a fellow forum member for a number of reasons, but we all know things don't always work out as planned. I am thinking of renting a trailer to tow down just in case, but I also don't want to appear too eager to sellers there either.  I'm not desperate, (at least not yet), for a vintage Mopar and i don't want the sellers to think I'll pay whatever price they're asking all for the sake of owning a cool car.
Any thoughts and input is greatly appreciated. I just don't want to get ripped off down there should I find a car that catches my eye...

Later,

Bri

I believe DAYTONA good a good deal on a Challenger last year. There were a few good deals in my opinion, but it depends on if you are just looking for one particular model, or any Mopar. Your budget is a big factor too.  If you are looking for a nice E-Body for 10K, it isn't going to happen.

I think this year you're going to find some cheaper prices as sellers are getting desperate.  You'll also find fewer cars though, as most sellers won't even bother.

In general, I think prices I've seen at the car corral are pretty high.

I attended Carlisle in 2006 before I knew of the club and before I had a 'Cuda.  I had found a Barracuda locally in town for $13,000 - running, complete, good shape.  The closest prices I could find at Carlisle was a $9,000 rusted hunk of junk - gutted, nothing but body - and a $27,000 daily-driver.  I ended up getting the one in town for $11,000.

Just sharing my experiences.

Are you referring to the 6 cyl car that's in pretty great shape and only like $7,500?
