My spindles should be in tomorrow, but I'm still waiting on the brakes. And of course it's going to rain all week. Sigh. Although, for what its worth, mine won't look like much when its done, I'm sure there are plenty of Challengers that are already lower. I just needed something to deal with the 1.12" t-bars...

My brakes are on the way, hopefully have it done in the next week or two depending on when they get here and my schedule. Already have the tubular UCA's and LCA's installed    !

Well, I got my brakes! They look pretty good, although I think I'm going to clean up the casting a little, there's a rough edge in from the inner bearing race. It wouldn't be a big deal, but when I rubbed my finger on it some of the leftover slag came off, and I don't want that in my bearings.

What do they weigh?

A lot. Shipping weight was 45 lbs for the pair, I'm guessing around 20 lbs each. Although, comparing them to the 10.94" original rotors there isn't that  much of a noticeable difference, maybe a little heavier but not much.

The bad news is looking at my caliper to rim clearance I don't think I'll be able to install them with my current set of rims. It looks like I have exactly 3/4" of clearance with the smaller rotors, so I'm guessing the 11 3/4" rotors will cause the calipers to hit. I was planning on buying new rims anyway, but this will set back my installation of the drop spindles.  :crying: Its always something!

Those spindles (and the brakes) look nice.
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

Isn't the smaller rotors 11" so 3/4 more will be 3/8 more on the radius? So if you had 3/4 clearance before you should be good  ( 3/4 divided by 2 = 3/8" )? The calipers can be ground down slightly if they hit ( casting flash) You have to run 15" rims. Surely they didn't hit on a cordoba that used 15" wheels??

Yeah the smaller rotor is 10.98". So I need at least 3/8" of an inch. It's going to be tight, as it actually looks like I've got less than the 3/4" I thought I had across the entire caliper. I'm just not sure I want to pull apart the whole front end and then have to put it back the way it was after I install everything to find it doesn't fit. I'm planning on going to 17" rims anyway, so I might just wait until I have those too. Its probably overkill, but this is still my only car that runs, so I can't just pull it apart and leave it for a few days if it turns out I need to reinstall the old stuff or buy rims. I can swap the spindles and brakes in less than a day, but if I have to do it 3 times (off and then on and then off again and then back on) it'll probably take 2, so I have to wait until I can be without the car for a couple days just in case.

I know that the 11 3/4" rotors will fit 15" rims, but that doesn't mean they'll fit all 15" rims, which means they may not necessarily fit my 15" rims. They probably will, but I'm not usually "lucky" when it comes to this sort of thing. My Dart with the "blown head gasket" for example. I pulled one of the heads today and discovered that the head gasket was in fact blown, but that it also skipped timing at some point and has a handful of bent exhaust valves too.  :eek4: Its less stressful to do the work if I know I have 2 or 3 times longer than I "should" need to get the job done.

I should have time to pull the wheel and take some better measurements tomorrow, I'll keep everyone posted.
