Server Swap & Board Upgrade

As some may have noticed the board was down for about 12 hours last night.  We had to do a server swap and as long as we were at it I figured I would upgrade to the latest software.

The good news:
Were back up and can post as usual

The bad news
1) There seem to be a few missing graphics and such.  Had to go back to a default look, but Ill be working on that.
2) After many years of freeboating, its finally time to start paying for server space.  Im still going to be getting a decent deal through business connections, but Ill be looking at about 100 give or take for space.  other than the google rotating ads at the bottom, there will be no more advertisements.  we wont be garbaging up the site more than that.  i will however post a paypal link at the top in case anyone wants to throw a couple dollars to help out.  in no way is this necessary or expected, but any little bit is appreciated.

past that, ill try to get the kinks worked out of the new software, but it should be business as usual now!

This is something myself, as well as others have brought up a few times in the past, about having some type of small membership fee, but it always got ignored. 
I will most definitely contribute what I can, as it is the least we can do for the amount of knowledge we all I'm sure have learnt from this wonderful place

i wasnt ignoring suggestions for membership fees.  i just didnt want to accept money for a site when i didnt have to pay for it.  now that im having a bit of out of pocket expense, im not above accepting generous offers.

I had just made a post about the donate sign. I see why now.    I'm quite sure you will not have problems from us paying the 200 a month or so that you say you need.  Count me in.

Wish you would put something beside the donate link. I myself was a fraid it was a scam

thank you all for the donations!  in just a few hours were already covered for the first 2 months!  this community is amazing and has been a total joy to be a part of since day 1.  better than any ive ever seen.  it really warms my heart.

thats probably a good idea.  ive been looking into getting a button back like we used to have instead of just the link.  this software is still too new for that, the mod hasnt been written yet, but we'll get back to the old better way soon.

Thats a good point.  I didnt think of that.  That certainly shouldnt happen anymore.  Ill look into that and make sure.
