First car I actually owned was a 65 Galaxie convertible (restored it with some help from pops!)

I don't really know....I drove so many things as a kid. My dad's dump truck, excavators, backhoes, loaders, his '88 Jeep Cherokee Limited...too many to count. I'm currently driving my mom's '04 Grand Am (I have my L) but MY first car I've driven will be my '73 Duster.

First car I drove was my Dad's 1958 Chevy 2 dr. Belair with a HO 283 w/4 barrel, daul exhaust and a GM powerglide, slip and slide transmission.  It was two tone white and gold.  After my dad bought it he had "Gold Digger" painted under the rear fender flairs.  That only lasted a couple of years before he took it off.  Thank heavens it was before I started driving.  When I started driving he had dual glass pack mufflers and it sounded really good.  I used to cruise Whitter Blvd in Calif with it in 1st gear.  And he wondered why the transmission kept going out?   :grinyes:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

First, I'm sorry to hear about your best friend!  Must have been great car guy!

I was five years old and drove a 1953 Studebaker Champion.  I couldn't reach the pedals but I was driving, thanks to my older brother.

I've been on tractors by myself since I was 5.  First car I drove is our '83 Fifth Ave, still sitting in the yard.  Really too bad, it was an awesome boat to drive.  Power everything, has the "power amp" that boosts the rear speakers, lol.  Still runs and drives, but not really road worthy.

First stick I drove was my '94 Ram.  I dont think I ever stalled it, I just jumped in and drove, it was natural after driving tractors down the road.  It was actually easier.   :roflsmiley:

My first car to drive was an early 60 or 61 Rambler American classic with the 3 on the tree also. A car my dad inherited from my grandfather. It also had a lever you would pull out to put it in overdrive. When you let off the gas in overdrive that car would coast forever. The car was supposedly beige in color but to me (at 14) it looked more pink.  Beat walking to school tho.

I don't remember the exact sequence, but before I got my license my Dad let me drive his '58 MGA Coupe once; I was already too tall to drive it comfortably or safely.  Also our '69 Custom Suburban wagon, and early stick training in a '68 VW Type III Squareback.  But I really learned in my cousin's 1964-1/2 Mustang V8 coupe (which she still has). Neat, neat car.

I still miss that old Custom Suburban most though.

My Dad bought me a '52 Ford. Had a 3 on the tree and a 6 banger. I used to drive it up and down the driveway at home when I was a kid, at least until my buddy got in it and did a hole shot, slammed 2nd gear and slammed on the brakes breaking the mounts driving the motor through the radiator.
