Looks awesome. What paint did you use to simulate the cosmoline on the LCA's?

For the first time since 1983 my 'Cuda has a heart and lungs!  My son came over this morning and we got the the engine and transmission and torsion bars installed.  Now just to figure out how to hook up the various wires and gas lines and hit her with the paddles so she comes alive!!  Sorry about all the dust in the engine compartment.  I ran out of Meguiars spray wax. I'll add one thing.  She's definitely a lot heavier to push and harder to steer with the extra weight of the engine and trans.   :22yikes:

I used a "Quasimolene" PPG Uretahane paint sold by RestoRick.  I went on his web-site and didn't see it listed.  He does have an Aerosol Cosmoline spray but I didn't see the paint.  I bought it several years ago so maybe he doesn't carry it anymore or I just missed it.  You can call him and find out.  Good luck!

After two days of scraping/stripping paint, sanding, priming, sanding and priming again and again, today I managed to paint the Shaker Bubble and traction bars for the 'Cuda Raylle Red. I also laid down several coats of clear coat on top of the red.  Since the 'Cuda is triple black I decided to accent it with red hockey stripes (yet to be done) and a red shaker bubble. Even though it's old school, I decided to put the traction bars back on (nostalgic) and my son suggested I paint them red also. Have to let the paint/clear coat dry/cure for a week and then I'll color sand the Bubble to eliminate any orange peel and make it mirror smooth.

I took my original radiator down to a local (highly recommended radiator shop) to have it cleaned, checked for leaks and pressure tested.  Fortunately it passed with flying colors and I didn't need a new core which would have been over $500!  :22yikes:  It got a new coat of paint and was installed along with a new battery, the alternator, radiator and heater hoses and new aluminum valve covers and billet breathers which were a birthday present from my wife and son.  Filled up the engine and radiator with coolant, put 10 gallons of 100 octane gas in the gas tank, primed the carburetor, hooked up the gas lines and installed new plugs and distributor wires along with a new Summit Electronic ECU and distributor.  Unfortunately, when we tried to fire the engine it didn't want to go.  Not even a hiccup, backfire, fart, etc.  Nothing, it just spun.  A check of the systems with some help from the forum members and my mechanic son determined I was not getting any spark out of the distributor.  A call to Summit this morning resulted in them sending me out a new Electronic distributor, ECU, etc under warranty.  Hopefully, the engine will come to life in a few days.  This waiting is killing me.  :stomp: :pullinghair: :banghead:

Finally got the engine fired this morning after I removed the Tach wire from the coil.  Scared the crap out of me because I wasn't really expecting it to fire after the previous failed attempts.  It's quit loud with open headers.   :ylsuper:  Anyway immediately shut it down and was going to do the cam break in run tonight but I have a pesky fuel pump leak I wasn't able to resolve today due to company that came over and stayed and stayed,  :pullinghair: :stomp:.  Hopefully tomorrow I should get the fitting I need and after my son gets off work we'll fire her up again and do the cam break in.   :2thumbs:  Standby for the fire up video!   :droolingbounce:

For the first time since 1983 my 'Cuda has a heartbeat and what a beat it is!! Cam break in went well. Had good oil pressure, stayed in the middle of the gauge the entire time and engine temp did likewise.  Had to deal with a couple minor fuel leaks and for some reason my lower radiator hose was leaking at the water pump.   :clueless:  I took three different videos. One's a walk around the car before start up.  One is of it idling after break in and one is of the fire up and break in.  I didn't turn the video off for approx 6 minutes since we were dealing with minor fuel leaks and trying to maintain the idle at 2K RPM.  Don't expect anybody to sit through the whole 6 minutes but I couldn't figure out how to edit it.  First and last 30 seconds are best.  Anyway, engine sounds like a Beast. I'm loving it!! Can't wait to actually drive it but that will have to wait until next spring/summer after we get the doors, front fenders, and hood painted and installed. Since I couldn't load directly to CC.com, I loaded the pictures to my picture sharing site.   Below is the link.  Enjoy, I sure did.
