Anyone see a Fiberglass Hood like this? "Edited"
« on: February 12, 2009 - 11:34:55 PM »
It was bought in the early 80's think 82 And the company was located in Florida.
When I first got it the front of the 2 scoops were flat! They were the right shape but at the ends where the are opening would be was flat! Did not go in at all was just falt at the end. When i called them they said paint the hood and then paint the flat part black! So it did not look right.  :swear:
So I Cut the scoops out glassed on a lip and bolted factory scoops on.
It is a top side and a bottom side glassed together. No structure under it like factory hood {ie}the top and bottom are both the same Like 2 skins for the top kinda.
It is heavy and a bolt on hood.
The back where the vents should be was smooth, So now I am cutting a whole in it and glassed in factory  cowl vents in from a watsed hood.
So far This is the only one I have seen. Anyone?

I posted here since it is kinda a Body question

A picture when it was on the car with just the factory scoops added in, but still no vents in the rear

It looks like a standard Magnum hood to me. :dunno:   I know lots of people who open up the hood, attach flexible tubing to the air filter and make a ram intake system out of them. Is it fiberglass.

Looks like the same hood as on my 71 challenger, you can just see the vents near the windshield

Here is my hood, it's a great fiberglass hood that I have never seen before.
It looks just like the factory hood just that the vent grill has not been cut out, the ribs are there but the holes have to be opened.
I love it, it is a bolt on and has the hood release, it's very light and looks just like a steel one top and bottom. I think it's from the 70s or early 80s, i got in a trade for some parts and was told it came from an old racer that had sold off all his stuff to the guy I got it from in a bulk sale.
here are a couple of pics.
