Of all the interesting places, would have never thought I would find model cars at TJ Maxx!?!?

Found the remake of the 60's AMT Hippie Hemi dragster for $7.99, glue together Speed Racer with opeing engine canopy, jacks, saws, and homing pigeon for $5.50, and another I forgot what the name was but it's a dragster with an altered Ford t-bucket body on it for $5.00!  I'm not into dragsters as much but I can scavenge the engine/tires and what not.  For the price, it was a steal.  I was in AC Moore and a depending on the model they can be very expensive now, I was told because of the petroleum price.  A Penske Vette was $26.99.  :money:  Cheapest 1/24 scale I saw was $18.99. They also have some of those "bling" cars for like $6, GT-40, 2006 Mustang, new Vette.... I picked up the Ford GT.

Speed racer kit is like this guy's kit.

Picked up a Hot Wheels Aussie Ford Falcon, the one the Mad Max Interceptor is based on.  I might try to turn it into the Mad Max car eventually.  First time I've seen it in any sort of diecast over here in the states.  You can find 1/18 scale diecast of this car on Ebay but they go for big bucks.  Got a Ferrari 308 too, classic styling.

The Ferrari 308 is on my list to get should I win the lotto.  It has to be red, and I would need a Detroit Tigers hat and a Hawiian shirt.  Oh yeah!

Surprisingly, they are not as expensive as I thought....depending on what you call expensive too I guess.  Not that I have the money, I've seen drivers in the Boston area going for as low as the low to mid $20k area on craigslist.  I could imagine where they are more plentiful like CA of Fl they may go for cheaper or you get a better car for the $.

Here's a '78 308 for $22k: http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/1944900526.html

The Detroit Tigers hat/hawiian shirt might be tougher to find!  :roflsmiley:

Saw some new RC cars at K-Mart.  Looked like 1/16 scale.  They had a new  Challenger, something like '67 Vette, '70 Superbird, '71 Charger , and '69 GTO  About $25 orso.  Didn't get one but it looked cool.  They all looked kind of chubby but the Vette actually looked pretty nice.

Toy alert: Did't get it but saw it in Target for $50.  1/43 scale, short track, only a figure 8 but the cars were real nicely detailed with Minilite rims and nice paint.

The deal is that since they are 1/43 scale, you can use these cars on much longer tracks that are made by the cheaper companies that can be found cheap at Christmas time.  Toys r Us will sell figure 8 tracks for like $10 after Thanksgiving.  Bigger tracks for not much more.  :2cents:

I know when I saw them at a local Target they only had 2 in stock.  I tried to find them even on the SCX website I don't see them and finding them on other websites was difficult.  I wonder if it is a Target only type of deal?  Might also be stuff they are slowly getting in for Christmas as well.  I remember seeing radio controlled AAR Cudas in 1/24 scale only at 1  Target at Christmas time and then never seeing them  again after that.  Try calling first so you aren't driving all over looking for it.

I'm temped to get one but it's kind of pricey.  I'm sure the quality is decent but at Christmas I've seen the figure 8 tracks that are about 8 feet of track selling for as low as $7 at Toys r Us, regularly $10, same scale-1/43 but the cars are definately not as attractive nor there's a chance they don't perform as well.

Would be cool for you to get this set and paint up one of the cars to look like your car.

Let me know if you can't find it and I can see if I can look for it next time I'm at Target.
