Alright, gotta show these off.  I've always enjoyed collecting 1/18th scale cars.  My collection pales to many here I'm sure, but I just acquired a handful recently, and wanted to show them off.

Sorry for how big the pics are - I set my camera to the lowest setting!

First, picked up these for $12 each at Sam's Club - 2 models I've been wanting for a while...

And now my piece d'elegance!  The AUTOART 2006 Viper SRT10 GTS!

I've been wanting one of these for a while, but they go for $100 dollars!!  I got this one on Ebay for $70 and within an hour they had bumped the price to $98.  Must have realized their mistake!

Check out that detail - spark plug wires, carpeted floor, 2-tone dash with remarkable detail.  Side windows, even set belts with metal buckles.

And that started a brief addiction, so with my first paycheck from my part-time evening job, I bought this:

A Koenigsegg CCX, also from Auto Art, for $175...  Crazy, yes, I know, but it's the only way to get one - no one else has the license to produce the diecast.

Check it out though - the roof comes off and stores in the "bonnet," as does the real car, and the trunk and hood have stabilizer struts.  Plus, the dihedral synchro-helix doors work and look just as the real car does.  Very, very awesome.

And now to resume saving money...  :)

Thanks Brad!  I actually bought it on Ebay from my cell phone while sitting under the tent at Carlisle.  :)  There was one for sale at the big diecast vendor under the grand stands, but he wanted $100 for it.  They only made like, 2,000 or so of these.

I didn't realize how dusty it was until I looked at these photos...  lol.  It needs a wash-and-wax!

I may have to go internet hunting for one myself!  :grinyes:  I did a quick check and they say 6000 were produced?

Nice score, Jeff!  :2thumbs:

Autoart makes pretty nice stuff but I can't afford that kind of quality.  :crying:  I try to stay under $20 or so for each diecast.

I've found some nice stuff off craigslist, best one is an Exoto 1/18 #5 1964 Daytona Cobra driven by Dan Gurney.

I paid $10 for it.  The Exoto site has 1 left in stock, selling for $1,298.95      :faint:

I wonder if her ex-husband misses it?  :roflsmiley:

If I could afford an Autoart, this one would be in my 1/18 scale garage...

Sweet! I have #15 and #56 of the daytona shelby coupes from exoto. Love the detail! I used to buy lots of diecasts. I have over 150 of the 1/18 and about the same of 1/24 over about a 20 year period of collecting . I totalled up the cost of them one day and it scared me! I thought man are you ever dumb, so I quit and put the money into parts for the 1:1 diecast!  :grinyes:  Mind you every now and then another sneeks in to the collection!

Wow!  You have 2 of the Daytonas?  Nice!  The lady said when her ex bought it years ago he may have bought it for $150 or so.

Yeah, getting diecast can be addicting and after a while your house turns into a toy store if you aren't careful.  I "try" to save some money/avoid buying diecaast by finding deals or limiting how much I spend on them, thus the $20 limit...

Oh yeah, was at Costco last night....  ::)  Had to get it as I saw a replica of John Milner's car at Universal Orlando a few weeks ago... $12.99!

That`s why I tend to stick to the 1/64 scale Hot Wheels and such, a lot cheaper.I do have a decent and always growing HO slot car collection worth a few bucks.  :money:

:iagree:  Yeah, gotta agree with you on the 1/64 scale stuff.  You can stash a whole bunch in a decent sized drawer.  There is nice selection too.

The small size is convenient.  I just attached a '69 Shelby Mustang GT500 convertible in Grabber Blue to my car keys by the roll bar.

I agree the 1/64 makes good scence! I have a bunch of those too from over the years. My problem is I ran out of room to display all my diecast's and have a bunch still in boxes! That's another reason I stopped, I thought..." how dumb is that?"  :grinyes:
