UPS just dropped my latest "Can't resist" purchase on my doorstep yesterday. :naughty:
This is the new WIX 70th anniversary set of vintage and new Dodge Challengers, and it is really cool!
As you can see from the pictures, they really nailed the scale here, the new Challenger is a giant compared to the original! (just kidding! The new one is 1:18 and the vintage one is 1:24 )
And true to the current standards for die cast, the detail and features are amazing.  I feel sad for the poor Chinese workers carefully putting these things together for a buck or two a day and a bowl of rice, it must take hours to craft each of these intricately detailed masterpieces together....
The '09 even has the cheesy hood prop that Dodge for some reason puts on R/T's and SE's instead of the hydraulic cylinders the SRT8's get!
The 1:24 Challenger has the same level of detail as the 1:18, the only diecast models I have seen in this scale that have this level of detail are the Franklin and Danbury mint models.
The set even comes with a survey card you can send in, return along with a sales receipt for the purchase of a Wix air filter, they will send you a poster of the box artwork, and a $20 coupon toward a future diecast purchase.
I called around to some local Wix retailers to see if they stocked any, none had them, so I ended up buying mine off the place you can usually find anything, ebay.  There are a bunch on there now, they are bringing $70-$95 plus shipping.  Since the Franklin 1:24  models alone typically sell for $100+, this is a pretty good deal if you like B5 Challengers!

I just got my set from OReilly's for $69.00. The 6.1 I got at a local parts store for $29.00.

I went to a Ford dealer in town to get my son a Mustang shirt for his birthday and they had about a dozen Mopar diecasts 1/18? No Fords??? I laughed and said OK who's the Mopar fanatic working at a Ford dealer! The parts guy grunted and said I'll sell you the whole lot! I looked at them and said not at that price1 He said OH no! Went to the computer and said 40 each for the GMP and 25 for the HWY 61 1 So I bought 3 cars. Green Roadrunner(GMP) Yellow AAR and a sublime Cuda!
I'm thinking about going back and getting all the rest and flogging them on E-bay!

Nice score - I recently paid more than 60 bucks for the sublime cuda, and have seen them go for more than 75.

You got a great deal!  I bought the Hwy61 AAR off ebay back in 2006 and paid $46.00 + $21.95 shipping ( US Bucks ) and when it arrived in the mail I had to pay another $8.25 Can.  I'll have to check the local Ford dealer around here and snoop around.

You can call me RAY or RAYMOND or RAZOR or THE ZOR!

If you can get 1 of the runners , probably the black one for $40 or a few Dollars more + the shipping  I would be interested in it

Neil, I just got back from the Ford dealer. The black one is still there. They also have a blue 1 of 1 vert RR? Blue  same as this http://cgi.ebay.ca/1970-Plymouth-Road-Runner-1-18-GMP-1-of-1408-Blue_W0QQitemZ190307220895QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDiecast_Vehicles?hash=item2c4f31bd9f&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
I asked to see the dude who sold me them the last time and he wasen't working ,they said he would be back Monday so I'll go back for you then. He is the one with the deals.
