I bought a T/A Challenger and took the ralley rims off it and put them on this one, then repainted the white top and interior black, finally added the bumble bee stripe. Looks pretty good except the R/T logos I felt I couldn't get off.

haha no way man i did the same thing to a johnny lightning 70 challenger ... lol

i took a perminant marker and "painted" the top, hood trim, rear trim, hood snouts, and added a rectangle shape for the panel scoops...

i cant find those american graffiti challengers at our local wally worlds, so if anyone finds em, id be willing to pay cost for em and some shipping natch, i wanna bestow them on a few folks this year.

I found one extra for Chryco so far. If I find anymore I'll let you know. Out of 5 Wal-Marts that I went to, only one had them so far this year. I'll let you know if I find more and pick 'em for you.

It's been out for a while, I have one and I am sure I have had it well over 5 years.
It was included in a 2 car set that included a '70 Pontiac Trans Am. It may have been sold in a different set also.  But most of the ones I see for sale are loose like the one in that ebay auction, it seems rare to find a set in the original packaging.
There are also a couple Hot Wheel AAR cudas, and someone on another board said that HW is working on a new more accurate AAR, the ones they had before were inaccurate because they are shaker cudas with the race car paint scheme.
Maybe they'd reissue the Challenger too, that would be a cool set, to have the 77 Challenger and the 48 cuda.
