Those are hard to find, especially in blue!  Most ar the red version!

Somewhere I have (I think) 4 of those, including 1 in blue.

Nice!

Ok, here's my little car story.

When I was younger in my single digits, like 7-8 or so, I used to have this little white '65ish Matchbox Mustang.  It was cool since it had a little thumb switch on the drivers side door that actually steered the car.  Don't see many Matchbox cars like this.  Any hows, it disappeared over the years.  :(  I loved that little car.  Used to drive it around on the rug playing the record from the Beatles, "Baby you can drive my car."  It was all beat up, chipped and all but I loved that car.

Fast forward to about 1998 when I was visiting London, England and I was at the Picadilly Fair flea market.  What do I see, the exact little Mustang in a display case in mint shape with the original matchbox.  I thought it was too expensive ($17 back then) and walked away but ran back to get it figuring I would not see another in a while, especially in such nice shape.

Fast forward to about 2010.  I go to my brother's house.  Says to me he found a box with my old Legos.  Fish around and what do I see?  My old little Matchbox Mustang!!!!  :icon16:

That is a cool story.  I had one of those Mustangs back in the day also.  Probably every kid did, Matchbox sold more Mustangs in 1965 than Ford did.

Thanks for the comments, guys.  :)  Yeah, the beat one had some hard times but due to the steering it was spared the "Dukes of Hazzard" style jumps as it didn't go straight on it's own.

Like real old cars, "I'll fix it up one of these days..."  Or maybe I'll leav it in it's unrestored condition... :roflsmiley:

Very cool story, Phil.

When I was about the same age, Cap'n Crunch would occasionally run giveaways of Matchbox cars. You had to send in 6 boxtops to get one car, so needless to say, my father probably ended up paying $6 for that 50 cent car   I got every one I could. The first one I got was a white Mustang, but it didn't have that cool steering like yours.

Oh, yeah!  Those were cool!  I bet Captain Crunch cereal stock went up when they had those promos.

Do you guys remember when in the early 70's they used to have Hot Wheels on boxes of Crest toothpaste?

I also remember Hot Wheels sold in little plastic baggies with a cardboard hanger, sometimes in twin packs.

The good old days!  :icon16:  I'll have to find my old box of Hot Wheel and Match box cars...

My Mom gave almost all of my old Matchbox and Hot Wheel cars to my nephews, so they are long gone.  I do have one redline Hot Wheel, about a '69 T-Bird, it is about the same condition as your Mustang.  I think I also have an old Matchbox tractor from the late '60s, but all of the tires are missing.

I am sacrificing my Gibson Les Paul to be able to afford this puppy. I love having a Les Paul but I find that I revere it too much and so I dont get it out of its case much at all since it is so nice. I bet its been 6 months since I even played it. That is sad so maybe I can send it to off to a home where it will find the play time it deserves. Hellraiser is a very nice axe. I have a Yamaha AES 720 that I like a lot and a set neck tele that plays like butter.
