Here's a toy two-fer! I was at Meijer recently and when there, I can't help myself, I always make a beeline to the toy section before heading to the food or car parts area where I intend to shop. So I'm checking out the cars and see they had a couple M2 Machines 1:24 '71 Challengers! One was orange with white stripes and the other was green. The majority of Challenger models are '70's, and since I have a '71, I couldn't resist taking one home with me. I picked the green one as green models are even more uncommon than '71 Challenger models!
The green is more of a later sherwood green than '71 F8, it has a '70 gullwing and trunklid, the seats are '70's. I'll stop nitpicking, what do you want for $19.95?
I've been working at Navistar this year in a group that engineers option combos for medium duty trucks; Durastars, Workstars and Terrastars. They have company rules in the office about what you can display on the top of the file cabinets in your cubicle (seriously), so no Mopars allowed in my cubicle. I do have a couple heavy duty semis on display currently. I thought it would be cooler to actually have a model of one of the trucks my group actually configures, so when I spotted this Jaba 1:24 Durastar roll-off, I thought that would be cool to have. Plus, maybe I can put a 1:24 Challenger on it as the truck's "load", and that way display a Challenger model in my cubicle without getting in trouble with the "cubicle police!
One of my colleagues has a new Camaro and he's always making sarcastic Challenger put downs to me, so I've been running around to Walgreens the last few days seeing if I can find a Maisto 1:24 new Camaro model to display on the truck to rattle his chains, open the hood, put some cotton balls in there to simulate overheating! So far no luck finding a Camaro in stock, they get $6.99 for those Maisto models at Walgreens, which is about as much as I want to spend for a gag. After getting my laugh I figure I'd just smash the Camaro with a sledge hammer anyway!
