 :22yikes:

Because I just received its transmission.  :swaying: :jumping:  :hyper:

I will now convert my 70 to a 6-speed instead of a 5-speed. :working:
I need to order a quick time bell housing and decide on a shifter but I should be ready by June for the power tour.  :burnout:

Very cool.

Keep us posted on the project.  I think it's going to take some surgery to get that transplanted into a 70.

Persistence and a very nice parts guy willing to go the extra mile.

I hope not much but I am sure a little tunnel work will be needed… : smilielol:

At this point, I am the thinking about the shifter location being the biggest problem.

Hey, that's not factory correct for your year and make of car. :burnout: :stirpot:
Just kidding, I am not one of those types.  I was on DC and some guy's only concern is a correct radiator cap....WHAT, are you kidding me. :banghead:

Are they not selling them through the dealers or something? Makes me wonder why Chrysler would limit their profit earning potential by not offering the 6.1 or the 6 speed to anyone who wanted one. Kinda stupid to make people jump through hoops for them. Good score though, should make shifting that much more fun.

I'm not a trans guy, but how will you get that thing to function properly? I envision a ton of ports, weird connectors, modules, circuit boards, etc that all need the correct input to make the tranny shift.

I would think that as long as the clutch releases then its all a matter of rowing the shifter into the proper gear. Although it probably has some electronic doodads like temperature relays and such on it they should not hamper someone from shifting it(at least I hope not)

Yep hydraulic throw out bearing will work the clutch. There are 3 plugs on the trans one for the speedo, one for the reverse light (neutral safety switch maybe) and one for the skip shift (reverse inhibit solenoid)  that I won’t be using.
I will defiantly be getting a service manual for this piece.

That's the Tremec 6060, correct?  There was some discussion on the Viper forum about putting them into late-model Vipers.  In the discussion, they mentioned the difference in the gear ratios of 5th and 6th gears between the Viper 6060, and the Caddy CTS-V 6060.  I wonder where the 5th and 6th gears of the Challenger 6060 sit.

That's awesome - I wish you luck with the project.  By the way, T-6060's aren't really hard to get - it's not like Chrysler is building them.  They're just selling you a part off of Tremec's shelves.  If the Challenger and Viper 6060's are the same, then the Caddy's has a shorter 5th and 6th gear for better top-end acceleration (and thus lower fuel mileage at cruising.  *shrug*)

Good luck!!

The Challenger and Viper 6060's are different. There has been discussion about this on the new challenger forums and the challengers use a softer gear set, and there have been a few problems with them already.

I am not surprised a bit.
