Front and rear window removal?
« on: February 14, 2009 - 05:54:39 PM »
Any one have knowledge on removing front and rear window trim and glass?
I am about to takle the roof window rot and need to get my glass out to do so.
Or does anyone know a good glass guy in the Toronto area that can do old cars.
I keep finding guys that have only been doing late model cars and don't know how to get past the trim.
Thanks.
Jackson from Toronto.

I have that tool that is shown, but I didn't know how to use it.
That pick was worth a thousand words, thanks.

The hot wire doesn't work well on this type of glass channel - just becuase the clips get in the way - a hot (electric) knife tool is better for Challengers (imagine a hot knife through butter). The glass guys have both tools. I used a cold knife myself (now imagine a cold knife through cold hard butter...). Either way, make sure you have the sealer cut completely away - don't try to pry or push the glass out - it'll break on you!

Could you take a soldering iron and replace the solder tip with a blade??
I used a knife and screw drivers, slowly pushed thru the seal bit by bit.   Took awhile, but it did the job.

I just removed my windshield I used the tool shown for the trim,  then cut the seal with a thin blade from the inside and out.  Still can't get the rear trim off its tight.
