Stroker question

If you can put a 440 crank in a 400 and make a 451, can you put a 440 crank in a 383 and make something?

Yes - you get a 432.  Mopar Muscle did an article about a 432 stroker build a few years back.  Here's part 1:

http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/mopp_0605_mopar_performance_383_stroker_engine/index.html

You'll note that they got the crank from a 413, but the crank is interchangeable for all RB engines, so a 440 crank will be the same and require the same modifications.

Here's part 2, if you're interested.

Seems like a bunch of work to end up with a smaller motor than a 446. :clueless:

It does work. Gets you stroke and not much else. The bores are small and have shrouding issues, but they work. I'd still run the 440Source B wedge 3.75 crank first. Much less work involved.

I guess the premise of the article is 440's are somehow scarce which isn't the case. That level of HP out of a 440 with reconditioned stock parts except for the pistons, big valves and some porting on iron heads along with a good cam and Intake is easy so I don't see the point.
