:bananasmi    The finishing piece is enroute to me....    :jumping:   My custom Wiseco piston has been built and is headed my way.   Maybe I can get on the road by late March...    :cooldancing:

Nope.  I thought I was going to have to buy 4 in order to get one, but they went ahead and built me just one.  Works out better for me, as I only needed the one.  When I get it here, it will be off to the machine shop to get the new piston match-balanced to an existing undamaged one.  When that gets completed, it is up to me to get off my lazy butt and put it all back together.     :working:

Did you ever figure out what the engine ingested to cause the damage?

Yep. it wasn't hard to spot....   lol   On a crossram, the intake bolts (well most of them) are under the lids.  One of the intake bolts found its way into the intake tract of # 8 cylinder.  The bolt was too big to get entirely into the cylinder, but it got partially inside and worked on the combustion chamber of the head, the intake valve and seat and the piston top.  Everything has been repaired except the piston. It is being replaced entirely.  It took a while gettting a custom piston built.  Cudos to my friend Rick Cassel who was able to get one piston made instead of having to buy 4.  Most piston manufacturers won't build just one. Thanks Rick..       Now it is on the way, and that is the last piece of the puzzle.  When I get it balanced, I will be good to go.....     :2thumbs:

Old pistons out.  Found 1 broke ring on the damaged piston.  Ordered a new ring set today.  Cylinder is still pristine.  Possibility that I may start putting it all back together next weekend.  (Fingers crossed).....

I hope you have enough ring gap. Make sure the gap ends of the broken ring don't have shiny spots from butting together. When they butt and distort in the bores under WOT it costs you HP.

Your doing much better than I did.  Had one bad KB piston. The pin bore on one side is scuffed bad from a piss-poor press pin install job.   Called KB, gave them the weight.  They send one piston, but they had changed the material in the past year, and the new piston was too many grams too heavy.  No WAY it would balance even close.  I"m still pondering what to do.  Maybe I'll write a new post.
