Had oral surgery this morning its been a long day
« on: February 19, 2009 - 06:49:04 PM »
8:45 this morning I went in to have my wisdom teeth extracterd (all 4 of them). The surgery went well, but had a bleeding and gagging issue afterward, resulting in me going back to the doctor just before 1 pm. I'm so glad that my wife works with the doctor through the dentist office she works in. they took good care of me and I'm doing much better now. The bleeding seems to have stopped, I'm eating again (ice cream and pudding  :cooldancing: ). Made my wife watch Gone in 60 seconds and vanishing Point, so good times there. Anyways I just got back on the computer and thought I would let everyone know.

I know that was tough. They usually pack the jaw with gauze and it stops bleeding.   Rest up

Were you awake, or did they put you under? I was awake for mine. The tops come out easy, but the bottoms apparently grow roots under your gaw bone. I swore the dentist was going to put his foot on my chest to yank them out. I was numb, but I could sure feel the pressure of him pulling on my gaw bone.   :scared:

Thanks everybody. I was suppose to be put out, but for some reason I was awake. not a big deal I didn't feel anything, not even the pressure really. My lower teeth were through the gums but the uppers were still under the gums. Lucky for me all 4 of mine were straight, but they were harder to remove than the doctor thought they would be. I'm glad its over with, I have tomorrow off so i have 3 days to recover. The only thing is Mopar Alley's monthly meeting is Saturday night and I am the president. I'll go but I think I am going to let the vice president run the meeting this month.

OK guys,

Should I tell him what comes next?   :stirpot:

Unless dentistry has changed alot in the last 25 years, those stitches in your mouth will go away in a few days. You will be left with HUGE craters in your mouth that will take months to fill in. You will have to wash food out of these craters everytime you eat. Try a mouth wash of 50% water, and 50% hydrogen peroxide.   :eek4: Oh, sometimes I don't miss being young.   :poopoke:

That sucks. My wife (the registered dental assistant) neglected to mention the cleaning part to me.  :faint: Oh well guess I get to deal with it now.

Sorry you had to go through that.  I guess I was lucky in that part no wisdom teeth for me.  Had other teeth that caused a problem though.  Glad you are doing better.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I just had mine pulled about 6 months ago. Being that I am 36 and my teeth were impacted it took longer to heal. Plus the fact the doc cut my lower ones out. What sucked is that he broke one up and didnt get all the fragments. Hurt like hell for two months untill the fragment festered!!! Good luck! :2thumbs:

Yeah, and dont let them heal up right away, you'll get dry socket.  Real bad.  Keep them open with your tongue.  I had all 4 out once, too.   :eek4:
