Coys wheels
« on: February 19, 2009 - 11:41:12 PM »
I don't like to cut down companys, but I do like to inform people of a problem that I have had so they do not, I have  a set of c-5 Coys on my 73 Challenger they are 18-8 front and 18-9.5 rear Chrome, they fit great and look great, but with in 4 months of on nice summer driving About 500 miles the rear wheels chrome started to pit where the spokes meet the rim, the rims where always clean, and the fronts are still great, I think it was bad chroming on the rear wheels, the other problem was the company told me when I bought them there was a 1 year warranty even on the chrome, but when I called them the said they would not be covered.  :swear: :swear:, so I just don't want other people to have this problem.

Interesting. Coy's have some good looking rims, I've definitely been considering them but I guess I'll have to keep this in mind now. BTW, are you running stock suspension with those wheel sizes?

I see that their website never states a warranty.... I just sent them a message asking what their warranty is.   We'll see if they bother responding.

Did you get a written warranty that you could take to court?

Yes I'm running stock suspension, the rims and tires are set to the max on size width and offset, It sits about 2 to 2 1/2 inches lower the torsion bars a cranked down the caster align is set high and the front spring hanger in the rear is inverted. they handle great I did a lot of measureing before I ordered the tires, if you would like the size, I will have to get back with you on that the car is locked up over in my parents barn, and I don't have the sizes wrote down. I could insert a pic but I dont know how,

there was no warranty in writing, but the only thing I asked the company when I order the chrome wheels was, if the chrome was going to pit, and they said no that they had no problems with them, and I wanted to know because they were a newer wheel company  at the time, and they said they had a 1 year warrenty even on the chrome, looking back it was nothing but a sales pitch, they didn't stand behind it.

Pictures aren't too bad, best way is to start an account on flikr or photobucket. That way you can upload any size pictures. Photobucket also has a pretty easy photo editor for resizing. Once you've uploaded the picture to photobucket or flikr, just copy its web address and paste it into the img brackets on here. It looks like you're trying to use your home computers address for the picture location, which won't work.

If you want to skip the above steps, you can also just choose "additional options" at the bottom of your reply window, then click "choose file" under "attach". Click upload and post! Only problem with uploading directly to the site is if the picture is bigger than 300 kb, which is max for attaching.

And if you're in a pinch, you can always email me the pictures through my profile...

Do they have a local seller that you can take the car to and show them the pitting?  If not, take pictures and email them to their main office.  Unfortunately since it does appear they have any kind of written warranty, you might be out of luck, but if you tell them about the bad pub you're going to put out on them, they might change their mind.  If they do nothing, then go everywhere you can online and write bad reviews about the chrome and their lack of customer service.

As a side note, the fact that they say nothing about a warranty or guarantee on their website would scare me off right away, never mind the fact they have pictures of a purple Cuda when you click on Challenger in their picture gallery.  :villagers:
