Badges and Emblems (time to drill the holes...but where?)
« on: February 20, 2009 - 02:07:08 AM »
All,

The bodywork is finished and now I need to ensure that I have all the holes drilled correctly to mount the various badges on my 71 Challenger.  Does anyone have any engineer drawings with the demensions of where I should drill the holes for the challenger badges and pentstar on the fenders, the 340 four barrel emblems on the ralley hood, the dodge emblem on the deck lid and finally, the optional luggage rack on the deck lid?  I want to get it right on the first try.

Thanks

Not all of that is covered, but I can no longer share them. Chrysler made me cease & desist because they have a vendor planning on selling them in book form under license.

Everything I know about it is here;

Do you have an RT or what all badges are being drilled? I beleive the fender ones are stick on as well as the DODGE trunk lid that may or may not have come on 71's

Looking at some other posts, it seems you are correct about the emblems being stick-on or glued.  That will make it easy to install.  I still could use a measurement from the body line to the top of the emblem to get it in the right location.  I believe the hood emblems for 340 fourbarrel will still require holes as will the chrysler pentstar on the passenger side fender.  Thanks for the response.

On a 1970 only the one on the truck lid is stick. The other ones needs holes.

Although a lot of the emblems might have needed holes originally, a lot of the repops are 2 sided tape. Unless you are going concourse original there might not be a need to drill holes. Bummer about the drawings. I sure would have like to have saved them before they got the axe.    :'(

Yeah, it would figure that sooner or later, someone was going to want to make money off of them.  :walkaway:

Hi, Sorry to hop on a old subject, but I am also preparing to drill holes in my challenger hood for the 340 four barrel emblem, can anybody tell me the exact location for the holes? So far pictures is the best I have.
Many thanks,
Dennis
