Best thing I ever did.  The mechanism is grounded through the body/bolts.  You need to supply 12V.
GM makes a really nice switch.  I mounted mine in the center console.

Most have them in the glove box.

I like it!  :2thumbs:  Good spot for it, better than the glove box IMO.

My button is just under the dash frame on the driver's side. At car shows/in the garage and such I rather just walk to to it and hit it, than getting in. Just a convenience thing.

I do have it hooked to my alarm remote and can pop the hood or trunk with that. (i put a trunk latch on my hood, didn't like you can just walk up and open it)

thats cool for convenience to put it where you can just reach in to push it. Better and more modern yet is having it on your remote!
But, the old school reason for putting it in the glovebox, or Katfish's idea under the console lid is to be able to lock the valet guy out of your trunk.

is to be able to lock the valet guy out of your trunk.

Valet Guy? No Way.  I've seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off and there's no way a Valet guy will ever touch my car.  You valet your car, Tommyg29?

heck no.
I dont take it anywhere except shows anyways, or occasionally around the block just to get the juices flowing.
I meant thats why the manufacturers put the switches in the glove box....so you can lock them out.
