Cold Winter Causes MADMAN to Loose Grip...Left in Stiches
« on: February 27, 2009 - 11:14:18 PM »
As the cruel cold winter nights have brought on a bad case of cabin fever I have taken on the task of creating a custom steering wheel cover for the Challey...
Bony, hard, slick steering wheels caused me long ago to seek add-on grips mostly leather & difficult to install. Not that this grip was easy but I prefer the looks vs. the fit-all variety... I'll call this MM-V2.02 , 2nd version of 2nd attempt using vinyl, someday I hope to make one from leather

Foam under cover for that cushy feel we all love

Has to be tight....at least that's the way I like it.

V2.01 Rest in Peace

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank those who made this possible... David for providing the wheel (want it back now David?)

& Grandmother for letting me play on her sewing machine when I was small.

That looks so good Bullit, when you get one done with leather I'll send you my tuff wheel. I want it done in black leather. CP is right about that looking comfy on a cold morning.

Thanks guys.... as much time as I have spent on this I doubt I could afford doing this for hire....

Anyone have a source for small strips of leather?  aprox. 6"wide X 2' long?   :1zhelp:

Try here http://www.brettunsvillage.com/leather/piece_form.php  or http://www.justleather.com/ or maybe your local upholstery  shop to see if they have any scrap pieces. And it looks great  :2thumbs:
