Glove Box Lock Restoration
« on: February 28, 2009 - 10:38:46 PM »
Recently, I bought a keyed glove box lock at a swap meet to add to my car.  The lock was cheap, but a little discolored as the original finish had worn away, exposing the pot metal beneath.

While browsing the paint department at Lowe's the other day, I picked up a can of Rustoleum Bright Finish 7713 Dark Bronze.  I have to say I'm extremely happy with the results.  I did not spray the entire lock, instead just touched up the worn spots with the paint.

Let me know what you think.

Looks very nice, but I think you should of sanded it down first.  Why didnt you. It looks like the whole thing was painted to me :2thumbs:

The surface was actually very smooth.  I got a little bit of "hammered" effect because my garage is pretty cold, even with the heat running.  Some of us don't have the luxury of living in the heat year round. :(
