I am thinking about selling my Challenger to finance another project. What would this car bring in the real world/real money?
It is a 74 Challenger Rallye, original 318/automatic, but now it has a strong running 360. The car is tagged and insured and I drive it about once a week just to keep it up. The car runs great and is pretty tight. It doesn't use any oil or leak oil, but it does have a small tranny leak. The body is amazingly solid. The floor pans and trunk are rock solid, there is a few small (nickel size) rust spots on the front lower fender, about a nickel size spot on the hood (easy fix spot) and about a pencil eraser sze spot on the roof above the windshield. The car needs one complete quarter and the lower half of another and I have two brand new Year One quarters to go with it. It also may need a lower trunk extension to the quarter on one side. The interior is good, it has a makeshift headliner out of carpet, so that would need replacing. It has a brand new set of Kelly Charger white letter tires (white letters turned to the inside) and a very nice set of 15x7 cop car wheels with dog dishes. All the gauges and lights work, all glass is good and works good. In this picture the right fender scoop is taken off, but I do have it. I would just like to know what this car is worth in the real world............
thanks

After some thought and without actually seeing the car, I would have to say somewhere between 5 and 7K.  I think if ya gave it a paint job, could probably get alittle more.  ;D

You might do a search on Ebay Motors for "Dodge Challenger" and check the "Completed Listings" box on the left of the screen to see what other Challys have sold for recently.

At least shoot it one color of primer

Might make a world of difference

$4500 might be a little optimistic but for the right buyer  8)

I'm kinda pushing around the $3,800-$4,800.00 range.  I've seen a lot worse go for $3,500 and be the "less desirable" year models, so like 360Cuda said, it all depends on the buyer. ;)  Best of luck if you do put it on the market. :)

Well, if you do decide to sell it, I would definitely sell it on ebay.  I bet you will be surprised at what it will bring on there.  I've seen old mopars go for triple of what I would have paid for them and in a lot worse condition than yours!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.............I would ask higher than you think it's worth. Most car buyers know there going to get it for less than the advertised price. Say you want $3,500 to finance your new project, put a price of $5,100 they might take it or give you an offer, "$4,300" you reply with $4,500.  ;D Atleast if know one buys it for being "overpriced" you can always drop it down to a "real" price, BUT, if someone thinks that your "overpriced" car is worth that you played the game right.

Well I screwed up 2 1/2 years ago passing on a nicer car for less than 3K, It was an original 340 with a 318 in it, all one color, bearable paint. Not that much rust.
Depends how it runs and drives. If it runs and drives like it looks it is not worth even $2500 to me.  :-\

Some people just have no vision........not to mention the fact of valure
lets see
New Tires $425
Cop Wheels $500
New Quarters $ 800
Good running 360 and Trans$ 800
That is $2525 right there, then I could part the rest of it out and make lots more than what I am asking, but I do not believe in parting our a good car.
You have to look through primer and work in progess

I would have to say that it depends.  how fast do you want to get rid of it, do you want to unload it?  do you mind parting it out?

I would say no less than $3000-3500.  no more than about $6000.  but you know right place, right time, etc.....

let me know what you decide, and where you are located.  I will ask around..

got a passenger fender ???I need one - lol

I have to agree, for the most money you need to put it on ebay.  Good luck selling it and good luck with your future project

I know you aren't happy with the quotes we gave you...but for the most part....there close to what they are bringing....72+ years don't bring what the 70s 71 cars do...
