Ebay feedback?
« on: March 03, 2009 - 09:20:08 PM »
 Just a quick question.
I know ebay changed their feedback system a little while back, and was just wondering if I as a buyer left negative feedback for a seller that I bought something off, can that seller turn around and leave me negative feedback in retaliation?
I've bought a ton off of ebay, and I am just not up on the fairly new setup for feedback.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers anymore.  I left a negative feedback for the Funk brothers and didn't get one back but I sure did get a nasty email.

Would have loved to read the email those guys sent ya  :roflsmiley:
Man, do they got one hell of a reputation.....no matter where you go in the Mopar community  :swear:

I've never left negative feedback for anyone and I've been a member since Sept. 2001
But this fool has really pissed me off.
I've been going back and forth with emails since the beginning of Feb. and I've given every chance under the sun for this seller to be a little respectful.
Apparently this seller doesn't give one f%$k about his/her customers.

This is a non car related item by the way, otherwise I would pass along this fools info.
Is was just for a Lost, John Locke figure for my brother  :smilielol: ........and he's in his mid 30's  :screwy:  :roflsmiley:

Anyhoo, thanks a lot for helping me out PlumCrazyRTSE.
Appreciate it man

No problem R/T.  I should have saved that email from the Funk bros but at the time I didn't really know who I was dealing with so I just deleted it.  Yeah, I know what your saying about some vendors not giving a hoot about their customers.  For the most part, I've had pretty good luck on eBay but I've run into problems a couple times.  I had one (unnamed) mopar dealer sent me a part for a different car and when I emailed them about it they told me to send it back but they couldn't guarantee that a replacement part would be correct for a challenger either.  :swear:

Sellers can still leave negative for buyers, if they do not pay. As a seller, I think it's pretty messed up, but that's Ebay for Ya!!

Neither one of us has left any feedback yet.
I paid IMMEDIATELY after I won the item, as I always do.
Literally within a minute I was paying for the item.
Can this fool still leave negative feedback for me if I do first?

 Thanks guys

Did he claim that he shipped the item yet? If he shipped it and has a tracking number, it may just be stalled somewhere in the mail. I have shipped things that literally have taken a month to be delivered. So if he says that he shipped it and has a tracking number, I would wait for awhile to see if it does show up, before leaving him negative feedback.
If you paid thru Paypal you can suspend his payment and that may get him to act quicker. Also, if you paid thru Paypal, there is no way that he can file an unpaid item dispute thru Ebay, that would be the only way that he could leave you negative feedback.

I received the item a few weeks back.

I did pay through paypal immediately after I won.

So, am I to understand that I am in the clear as far as this person not being able to give me negative feedback, no matter what I give them for feedback?

Sorry lumpy, just a little confused, and just want to make certain this jerk off cannot ruin my good standings just out of spite.
 Thanks

The seller cannot leave you negative feedback. Ebay claims this new system protects buyers, but all it does is hurt sellers. The only things sellers can do know is not leave feedback at all on the buyer or post the feedback as positive and then explain what transpired. I hate the new system, but have no choice but to go with it.

I agree with eBay's view that it protects the buyers.  The buyers now have the opportunity to leave honest feedback without the fear of retribution, that was not the case with the old feedback system.

With the old system I never left feeback for a seller if they haven't already left it for me.  My thinking is how can they possibly leave me anything but positive feedback after being pain?

Wnenever I sell something on ebay I always leave feeback as soon as I'm paid.

That's pretty much my way of thinking. Whoever leaves feedback first is putting their neck out there hoping the other side feels the same way. I think it's people like the Funk Bros that have messed it up for the rest of us. They send a piece of crap, or nothing at all, but threaten the buyer with negative feedback if they don't wait for good ole Gordon to recover from whatever ailment he has this week.   :dupe:

It's just a few that ruin it for us all.

I always leave positive feedback for sellers when they deserve it, which is at least 95% of the time.  If there are minor issues with an item or shipping takes really, really long , etc., I just don't leave any feedback.  However, if I see that a seller is purposely trying to rip me off and they refuse to play nice, I'll use the negative feedback feature.  Out of the few hundred parts I've bought on eBay, I've only had to leave negative feedback twice.  For the most part, I've had very good luck with sellers that I've dealt with but every once in a while you're going to run across a Funky one!

Right now I'm dealing with a seller who says that he misplaced the part for the auction I won and that he'll let me know when he finds it (WTF?).  I have a feeling this one isn't going to end well but for now I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thats pretty much how all this BS started with me.
I received an email from the seller, after I paid right away, saying that he will leave feedback "as soon as I do".........WTF??
I simply asked him what would possibly change from the fact that I paid you right away? There is nothing else in dispute as far as my end of the deal is concerned.
Why would you wait for me to leave feedback first for? I am a good buyer, and I already proved that, so what is the deal?
He continued to avoid the question, and just ran around with useless banter.....even insulting me.
I returned an email to him saying what an absolutely insulting, and disrespectful thing to do to a good customer, who just put money in your pocket  :swear:
