Reproduction Barracuda Grilles Revisited (Heads Up)
« on: March 05, 2009 - 04:46:01 PM »
Since there is no shortage of scam artists & a lot of people are watching their money a lot closer these days, I wanted to post these two "Reproduction 1971 Cuda Grille" auctions for a heads up. I also see that both auctions have bids, so if any of members on here are the ebay bidders, you may want to ask the seller some very detailed questions, especially in regard to availability.

Not sure who the vendor is, repoman19681969 but they just started their accouint on January 24, 2009. They also sell Charger grilles & are located in Fresno, CA which is where Premiere Plastics was located. Anyone familiar with Premiere Plastics should know about the total lack of customer service & how many people have either waited many months for their grille, or never got it at all.

Does anyone know who the vendor is?

If there is anyone else watching the auction with hopes of buying, make sure you're very careful.  :Twocents:

Be warned that these grilles are not injection molded. No one is making the injection molded versions yet. BE&A has talked about making them, but so far...no go. The repro 71 grilles that I've seen so far are total junk. Worse yet, they don't hold their form in the heat.
I'm holding out hope that Mike at BE&A will change his mind and make the molds for the 71's. If he doesn't then Goodmark might eventually step up and make them. I'm not holding my breath.

This is true. A buddy of mine bought two of them a couple years ago. He had one setting in the box after he opened it in the driveway. An hour later it was bent up like a pretzel. He called the vendor and they told him to pound sand. He still has not used either of them.

same vendor premier plastic Ripoffproductions. They started in Cali. they also list the 68 and 69 charger grille, Read my report if you want to.

as to BE/A doing the grille that would be a yes. I spoke to Ross a few times regarding this and it is a done deal. I will have them once they become available and they will have the cheese greaters with the grille. NO MOLDINGS or BEZELS. but I will have them as well.

A shoddy half-assed product from Fresno? You don't say!

Sadly Fresno is my hometown. I'm so glad I escaped.

I haven't talked to Mike in a while. Did he have any idea as to what the price might be?

I plan to start on my other 71 Cuda within the next year and I've started gathering parts. I really want to get one of the new grilles. If Mike has anything to do with it, it will be top notch.

I would love to buy just a bare grille shell. I have an extra set of graters, bezels and moldings. What do you think the chances of that are?

the grille will come with the inserts, I know my rough cost and I think retail is going to be in the 7 to 800 range, this NOT carved in stone for the price.

Has Mike given a rough estimate as to when they will be available?

all of the tooling logistics have been worked out, They already have a sample grille to scan for the mold. We might see them june julyish?? they usually can turn parts out in about 90 days for sample to verify. I am excited to see the 71 grille come to life again.
