Proper Magnum 500 Wheels ?
« on: March 06, 2009 - 08:35:54 PM »
Were the magnum 500's in 1970 painted silver on the spokes like a Pontiac or were they chrome like a Mustang? and were the trim rings brushed or were they polished like the rally wheels for 1970?

Spokes were satin chrome, not full shine like regular chrome.  The trim rings were brushed also.

I thought that was what it looked like in the pictures.  you can't buy the satin chrome wheels, anyone ever hear of a way to take the shine off the chrome in a way that looks similar?

yeh, unfortunately, all they repro now in the magnum 500s is either full chrome or full painted.  The only way possible of dulling them down would be to maybe use some light steel wool but even then I would be worried that it might totally mess it up.  From what I have heard, there still are companies that do the satin chrome but it is a weird process.  Something to do with the chrome being "dirty" and therefore coming out that way or shine.

Your only other option is to find some good used originals.
