Some fun last fall
« on: March 08, 2009 - 09:54:32 PM »
I ran across these pictures and video today.  My cousin brought out his 1000cc Honda powered dune buggy.  Absolutely outrageous.  Easily runs up to 90 in a few seconds.  Our field was just long enough to get that fast, but then you had to let off.  I'm in the first two.  They guy on the left buckling me in owns it.  The third pic is my other cousin who came out to drive it, and the last is my dad.  The video is of my dad letting it rip.  Its really thrilling going so fast so close to the ground.   :scared:

lol yeah.  I've been on 400ex's, and those are toys compared to this.  You really have to pay attention to your speed and surroundings.

And I think you'd need more than a 400ex to trade.   :roflsmiley:

That thing is awesome....was that built or bought like that.

I was looking at a company in Canada here that sells dune buggys like that, they're called Hammer heads.  Not near as big of an engine, but they're all suited with stereo, lights, horn, ipod jack the works.

They're only 250cc, but they're a yamaha or honda engine, can't remember, priced around $3,000 canadian too.    :woo:

Dave, that thing is pretty cool!  And a darn good price, too considering the work thats put into it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure thats what it is.  He didnt build it.  There are plans you can buy on the internet for it.  There is a guy in eastern WI that builds them from those plans.  He bought it slightly used.  We did build one ourselves from those same plans, I'll post some pics of it later.

Umm, not sure.  I think around there, new maybe.  He bought it a year and a half ago maybe, and I think he told me a number just over 10k.  Dont quote me though.

Yeah, a heck of a rooster tail.  Every time you shift it would spin if you wanted to.  6 speed...

Here is the one I built most of around 2005-2006.  650 honda 4 cylinder, 6 speed.  That thing was nuts, he sold it.   It had its small problems that arose, and he didnt want to mess with them.  So a couple years later he bought the current one.  Dont laugh at my sock hand, I had a cast on for 10 months, and I covered it up so it didnt get dirty.
