My buddy bought a Challenger convertible project and took it to a local restoration shop that he said had a good reputation. He gave them a 5K deposit. Less than a year later the place called him up and said they were going out of business and he needed to retrieve his car back, and that the 5K would cover the work they had done so far.
They had semi-installed 2 Goodmark quarters and done some work in the trunk but not much else I could see. I was really amazed at how they had installed the quarters. It looks like they had glued the new quarters on top of the old quarters with some sort of epoxy and used pop rivets to hold the quarters in place while the epoxy set!
I also noticed they had used bondo to patch holes in the rear wheel well and even on the rear frame rails!
He was lucky to get the car out of there, if this shop had completed the restoration the car probably would have broken apart the first time he drove over a railroad crossing or hit a pothole!! I feel bad he got screwed out of his 5K though.
