    I'm a hack.  But I'll do the job so that its right.  For example, on my truck in places where I know people cant see, I could care less what it looks like, as long as it is fixed and the rust isnt coming back. 

    I hacked two pieces of tin behind the rear tires of my Challenger on the quarters.  I hated looking at the rust, and I wasnt fixing it anytime soon.  Tin, rivets, bondo, orange paint.  Looks 110% better than it did.  It took a couple hours.  I'll fix it someday.

    Here is the hack job i got on the frame rail on my car. This body shop did not stay open very long.

    Is that duct tape I see there with the metal patch's?

    I am sure those patch's on the frame make the frame far more solid than original!    :roflsmiley:

    I think he tried to lighten the car, because those framerail patches is aluminum. And those screw couplings ain´t waterproof without duct tape... :)

    I like this thread, it reminds me of my attempts to fix rust on my first challenger back in 1987.  Perhaps we should all take a moment to appreciate the vendors who have made so much replacement sheet metal available for our cars.  Here's to them  :cheers:.

    of course it didnt look like that, and i actually put some effort in to it, and tried to mimick the original...........

    A hack?  Are you kidding?  I love your work!  :clapping:

    If I win the lotto, I'm paying for you and Robb (ShelbyDogg) to fly to California and do my body work.  I'll also import Challenger Gary to do the paint and stripe it, CP to put the thing together and MoparAl to come regale us with some good stories, help me cook some steaks and maybe turn a wrench or two.   :dogpile:

    Of course, the odds of that happening are about zero (gotta play to win, don't you know?), so I advise not quitting your day jobs.  :grinno:

    Greg, You forgot that I admitted that I am a hack above. Some of the work above doesn't look too bad. Some look like they just needed a little more welding. I'm sure that car was really bad before someone put the strength back into it.

    I'm trying to get my car on the road without spending $50,000 in labor and parts. I don't show you all of my "hack" pictures. I'm still trying to pay down my house and my kid's college tuition bill, while my wife is laid off.
    If I win the lottery, like you, I'll do it again but this time I'll have Tony's shop do it for me.

    Here's a really good one I just found buried in my files.
    Many years ago, a friend referred me to him to repair my car after a 4X4 slammed into the rear quarter. Years later, after removing the bondo, this is what I discovered.

    The guy who did this was a crooked crook.
