Hack Job Pictures

I'm with a few others here in the fact that while one person has a certain view of what the term "Hack"  means, everybody has a different view of what is "hacked"....I myself, have replaced a few panels with welds that look alot like some in these pics, and had absolutely no problem...However, Some of the pics, I do find "Questionable" at best...Just because some of us don't try take fifty years and the same in funds to recreate the factory weld seams, it would seem that we are to be considered "Hacks"....Hmmm, I thought as long as you didn't bury the metal in 2" of mud, and your welds held, you were ok....Remember, a strong weld isn't always pretty, and a pretty weld isn't always strong....

Popped the trunk to put a missing bolt in the hinge and noticed this

I'll try to get some pics of my inside firewall covered with white styrofoam and blue camping mattress.

The firewall is in pretty good shape under all that junk.

I'm not one to bad mouth anyone, but... I picked up a '73 Barracuda a while back and found that most of the engines' plumbing was done in soft copper tubing... fuel line, trans cooler lines, rad overflow, etc. It didn't matter to me, the engine was coming out. The kicker was the vice grips holding the inner/outer wheel houses together. Done on both sides. The grips were painted black so they weren't easily seen. HA! Bonus for me - two decent pair of vice grips. A tube of glue would've been cheaper for him.

I fully understand your stories about the old days without repop metal and cars nobody believed should last as classic cars and therefor some quick dirtywork was done but today? How can somebody, 5 years ago do this to a Challenger convertible?
For me this is plain rape, trying to earn some $$ instead of doing a job to be proud of.

will add the pic later but when I was removing everything from the engine compartment on my Gran Coupe I noticed some one had cut out the right side radiator support looked like it was done with a sawsall , has since been replaced with the proper radiator support from columbia parts corp. I dont know why they did it because the fender tags showed that the car came factory and had it's origional 26" small block radiator was try to get better airflow or something?

i found hack on my cuda too , fortunately i repaired all this . one picture of the inner wheel house is part of a recent repair.

I own a 1971 Dodge Demon that was hacked up pretty good. It had 3 quarter panels on it. The original quarter was smashed and cut part way off. Then they layed one right on top of it and atempted to weld it on. Some then smacked the car up again. They put another quarter panel on it. Right over the 2nd one!!! There was bondo so thick in the door to make up the difference it was rediculous!!  As of right now I have cut them all off!! Im going to be buying a full quarter to replace the hack job!!!
