More Ash Tray Adventures
« on: March 09, 2009 - 09:36:35 PM »
Thought you guys might get a kick out of this one. I bought an ashtray on fleabag for my Challenger. Check the description, then my pictures of the actual tray. Someone needs some lessons in honest advertising. I bought a "no rust" car from the same bunghole a few years back. (Didn't realize until I got the package). I had to resell it, because I don't have the time or patience for coastal ROT.

It's item # 390029421447 if the link doesn't work.

try buying $600 iroc rims with the description "recently professionally repainted and professionally cleaned" then getting dirty rims with the "professional" paint job being nothing but paint from a spray can i could still see the original yellow paint ... i tryed to get the guy to refund me the money and id pay the shipping ... but i got no answer from the jerk.... ebay could only give my 150 dollars back ....

BUT

i lucked out ... when i re-painted my Camaro the guys at 1 day paint surprised me when they said ... "we saw your rims and gave them a once over with black paint" so the rims looked much better

as for my 71 challengers ash tray i usually just have a bag of popurri in it lol

as for the description... umm the guy kinda contradicts himself... he says "no rust" but in his picture rust is CLEARLY visible ... he says "no dents" again dents are visible ...

i think u took a chance and it was a bad one

I will admit that I saw the crust/rust in the picture when I placed my GIANT max bid of $17.56. I hoped it would beadblast out, which it did. I'll follow up with an "after" pic when I get a chance.

Actually I had never looked at my ashtray until a few days ago and it looks alot like that.  How did the blasting go?  Should I just seal it with clear afterward to keep the rust off it again? (I'm not a smoker so there won't be any hot ash in there again)

I had mine nickel-plated because the machine shop I work at was having some parts done in that finish. If that hadn't happened, I was going to prime, paint dull silver and matte clearcoat. I've found that clear over bare metal tends to rust and discolor over time.

I know who you bought that from, also known as CUDAMACK. He is a member of our local Tidewater Mopar Club. I tried to buy some new sheetmetal from him because he gave club members discounts. I told him what he wanted and he said no problem, a little later I wanted to add more items to the list so I could pick them up at the MOPAR madness show and he told me he didn't have anything in stock and it would cost extra to have it shipped to him. On top of all that he didn't even show up at the MM show.
:villagers: and this wasn't my first bad experience with him.
