How is the "fit" on a Challenger Hedman 78038

Hi!
Before I spring for these , just wondering how the fit was on a Challenger with power steering and a stock starter ? I know most like mini starters, no budget for that at the moment?
I'm thinking someone before me got carried away "fitting" the current ones?

mini starters are cheap , any new Dodge truck in the wreckers will have one , Headmans fit like crap , but you get what you pay for , I have a couple of sets of used hookers available if you want junk

I agree with Chryco  - get a mini starter esp. with headers.  You can buy them new/reman for well under $100.  Well worth the money.  You need to grind down the casing a little on some of them to get them fit properly on a Big Block but that takes a whole 5 minutes.  As far as the headers go, I have personnally used the Hedman Elite 78038's and loved them.  They went in easy, fit perfect, and sounded great.  Did not have to do any  "fitting" to get them in.  No experience with the 78036's though...

Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear about the 78038 that's what I ordered! I'll look into the mini starter thing. I looked at the summit catalog and saw more $ than I wanted to spend right now. Would you have any part #'s for me? year? models? Under $100 is do able!

I have 78036's on my car right now. I wasn't going to cough up the $$$ for TTI's. 

I can guide you thru it. The driver's side is where it gets interesting, but I have a mini-starter. The stock starter will work, but I can't imagine trying to shove that heavy thing up between the tubes as you have to bolt the headers to the heads.

You can just go in there and say you need a starter for a 94 Dakota with a 318 or any newer small block or any early to mid 90's truck.  It is a NipponDenso unit.

any Magnum or Hemi V8 or V6 from late 80s to present

Thanks I'll look into it! Are they all the same torque? Are aftermarket ones more torque?

the V6 ones are smaller then the V8 minis but still crank over high compression 440s with no issue, no sure what torque they have

Wow are you sure you have 78038? I'm really pissed at the fit on mine? I've had to hammer to fit around the starter,torsion bar,power steering box ( big time) and steering shaft! I just let the car down of the jack stands and they are hitting the steering box AGAIN!

Sounds right to me ,That has been my experience as well with the way they fit , I have no idea why people keep buying them but no one wants to spend the extraa for headers that do fit correctly

Strange     I even recently installed the 73038's on the '66 Belvedere I am building for a customer and did not have to do a single thing to them.  They fit like a glove - and not an OJ glove...

Chryco, what's your recommendation? I have the Hedman 036's, ok fit but not a great fit. I'm looking to replace them this winter.

although not perfect TTi is the most consistant / best fit I have found + the quality is the highest with thick flanges against the heads , they seal well too
