headman must have changed something. We put these on our 440+6 cuda 4spd and had no issue like these. Think the only dimple we had to make was at the steering gear and that was minimal.

hope I dont have these issues, i have a set that I will be putting on my friend 71 chall 383 auto,  I put a set of hookers on my dads rt a while back and I thought they fit way worse. Also used these on my wifes 70 runner, No issues with that one either.

My Hedman 78030's fit without denting, although when bolting up the collector flange I didn't pay attention to the orientation and the flange hit the t-bar under hard acceleration. Loosened it and turned about 30 degrees and it's been fine. I was thinking of changing over to the 038's that Brad bought before I blew the budget on other items. It seems there must be a lot of variation in engine location in relation to all the other front end components? Brads first set fit horribly, the next (newer design) fit better, but not perfect. Others have claimed ridiculously poor fits, MoparDave and myself seem to have no issues at all with fit. ??? All just build tolerances  ???

well i got a set of headers on my big block in my cuda that are the hooker super comp headers with 2 inch primary and a 31/2 inch collector that dont hit nothing ill take some pics and post..

I'm just guessing here but I think those super comps have been modified. Did you install them or a prior owner?

no i installed them myself 10 years ago i used to have a 500inch stroker motor in the car..but they have never been messed with accept the ding at the plug..and im not sure that i did that

Those fit exactly like the ones I used on my old Pro-Street.  Best fitting header I've ever used and the easiest install as well.  That's why I was baffled by the fitment issues Brad was having

I agree these cars came with big blocks in them so there is plenty room around the engine,now my 72 demon kos car i had only came with a small block and when i swapped to a big block i had a few little problems here and there but nothing like what im seeing here..I wounder if he has the right motor mounts or k member I had a low deck in the race car in a a-body with indy 440-1s heads on it with more room then what im seeing here..if any of you guys need mesurements or info ill be glad to get it for ya..also my primary tubes are 2inch..you guys are beating on 17/8 if im correct..john

hummm, is there a different k-frame for a big block vs small block? My warrantee header still doesn't fit , better but still hitting the steering box and t-bar on drivers side? I used the engine location measurements from TTI and the motor is a little low, I can shim that up ok, but no way will it gosideways like TTI calls for. The other header (passenger side) would hit if I did that? and it's perfect now.

brad take a piture of how far your motor sets from the fire wall cause my pic vs yours it looks like the #3 header tube on mine is in line with steering box where yours is in line with #5 as if the engine is setting to far forward?just a guess may not be but take a look at my pics and yours..

well brad i dont see anything that jumps out at me accept that it just looks like a poor design..i just went out and campared the pics and if you shim it up i still dont think it will clear the torsion bar..is the motor a 440?or 383...worst case i would send them back i cant belive they cant make a header that fits better than that though..this crap isn't cheap...

well this is the part number on my headers 520-5209-1 we know they work.. :bigsmile:
