Yeah I have seen that video before. It is sickening the way Pinoche lays all the blame at the feet of the President or conservatives in general when they were warned years ago about needing better oversight.

Goggle "Community Reinvestment Act" and it tells the sequence of events. Bill Clinton lowered the standards while he was President and set the real disaster in motion. And don't forget the Millions wasted on housing projects that were all torn down when they turned into dilapidated drug dealer havens.

Now, now,

He was negative until Bill Clinton came out and said he should be more positive. Now he is, and life is great.

 :smilielol:

Well it`s ben what a little over 2 months and you guys are expecting everything to to be great?I do think he`s screwed up nominating people with major tax problems and did talk doom and gloom a bit too much.As far as his policies and spending it is way too early to know how it will all turn and effect the economy, anybody here get a report card there first week of school? That said I`ll give him a C.

The stock market tanked right after Ronny Reagan was elected, too. His economic policy is still trickling down the middle class' leg, but the rich got richer and that was good, right?

How do y'all think FDR got us out of the Great Depression?

His administration repealed alcohol prohibition, too, being impossible to enforce at this point!

Here's some good reading. Like our current situation, there were a myriad of influences on the GD. Lack of oversight was just one.

Don't need to read anything to know what happened this time. For one, the price of gas. How many trucking companies went belly up after that? What is our new President doing about that? Why does he ignore the 60% of the American people that want domestic production of oil and gas? How is "renewable energy" going to create jobs millions of jobs when most all of the hardware for it is built overseas? Are those Millions of jobs going to be in China? How will a diesel truck run with solar or wind? You'll hear the same old tired line when the gas prices spike again. It's not if, it's when. :grinyes:

 :iagree:

At this point I can only hope we de-value the dollar enough it becomes cheaper to produce in our own country again - I'm a Tool & Die maker and still now purchasing agents get caught up in saving ten or twenty cents and would rather send the work away, even work that has been done here for many years. We can not export, because our products are charged a tariff, but we will import to the point of excess.

We need jobs, by producing our own goods and servicing our own products. At this point it would seem to me we will throw money at everything but what earns the average joe money. Granted, the thought is get money into the hands of the rich and they will spread it, but because the do-do is hitting the fan, no one wants to let it go.

At this point it is easy to yell for a fix and a fix right now, but things are so bad, what is that fix?

My house is worth 1/2 of what I paid for it 10 years ago ( and I thought it was a deal then ) and if I lost my job I would have to stand in line for a job at McDonalds.

Sorry but the new deal that FDR instituted actually made things worse for the most part. yes some of its policies improved the situation, but for the most part it made it worse. WW2 is what brought us out of the great depression, and all of the manufacturing jobs that were created.

I think he is doing a horrible job!  Poor decisions on spending, cabinet positions, and delivering on the change but not the hope.  Where's the hope?  Also, I thought this guy was one of the best orators in politics.  The media and the left made fun of Bush at every misspeak.  0 is absolutely clueless with out the telepromter (most likely loaded with the words of his speech writer) .  Without the promter its like he's suffering from verbal constipation.  Thats why he has to use the damn thing for a 5 minute speech. We got exactly what we voted for...a community organizer not a leader.

Devaluing the dollar screws savers and people that have been frugal and responsible. Inflation is not the ultimate answer, though the government bailouts and borrowing would seem otherwise.

So much wealth has been distroyed this past year we can afford this increase in money supply right now. But they need to pull the spending sooner rather then later or our retirements will be worth nothing.

Say your house is worth 100,000 right now. With hyper-inflation in 5 years it might be PRICED at 150,000, Sounds good right, but it might only be worth 1/2 that VALUE in actual buying power. Along with your paycheck.

We just need to endure this cleansing and realize the mistakes, Vote out the people responsible, and build again. A pronounced depression is the only way to wake the citizens up to what has happened and make the necessary changes in government.

 That's my  :2cents: :poopoke:

There are plenty companies here in the US that are developing alternative energy products. The company I work at does work for GT Solar which makes a complete system for producing solar panels. Most of the units are sold to China and other countries so using them here would create jobs. There is also a company in Texas I think that makes those huge wind machines.

The welfare of Humanity is always the alibi of Tyrants.

It's not the Republicans against the Democrats, it's the politicians against the people.

When the Government has a knife at your throat and a hand on your wallet it matters not whether it is the Right or Left hand.

"Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have .... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases."

Thomas Jefferson

So far he is worst than my worst fears.
Filling most of his cabinet positions with insiders from the Clinton era and from the Chicago criminal politician ranks (as a Chicago area resident I apologize for being redundant, in Cook County, "criminal" and "politician" are one in the same!).
Using the economic crisis as an excuse to try to impose the big government social welfare state that has been an ongoing failure in Europe for so long.
His green initiatives, which will be the final nail in the coffin for the auto industry, and for any of us who will in the near future want to own a car that has enough power to get out of its own way, or a light truck that will tow anything heavier than a bicycle. And the cap and trade carbon taxes he wants will greatly effect the cost of living for every American, and drive what is left of our badly damaged manufacturing sector to more friendly and cost effective offshore locations.
As an unemployed engineer who has worked nearly 20 years for manufacturers, I think he has pretty much guaranteed I will never be able to find work in my field again.  I guess I need to go back to school and start over from scratch?
Despite all the gushing in the media about how he worked well with both sides of the aisle, his recent bashing of Republicans and the ridiculous and childish attempts to try to imply that Rush Limbough is the leader of the Republican party shows that those claims were pure hogwash.
On a personal level, as one who works part time as a flight instructor in the Chicago area, and right now that is the only work I have, I really didn't appreciate your spending millions of the taxpayer's dollars flying 2 747s, and several transport planes full of armored cars and helicopters, in addition to hundreds of secret service agents, into Chicago Valentines Day weekend, so you could take Michelle out for a nice dinner.
Due to security, every airport within 30 miles of that nice south side mansion your convicted criminal friend Rezco helped you buy a few years back was effectively closed down during your trip.  The weather was real nice here that Saturday but I had to cancel the two lessons I had scheduled and sit home instead of earning a few bucks. I am sure the 8 pilots I heard through the local FAA office, inadvertently penetrated the controlled airspace during your little vacation and are now being prosecuted to the full extent of the law are really big fans of you too.
Looking forward to your multi million dollar visits to Chi Town every 6-8 weeks as you promised (yes I am being sarcastic).
But I do like that extra $25 a week unemployment and 2/3 of my Cobra that I'm getting paid thanks to the stimulus bill. :dunno:

I actually applied for a job at one over in PA. They make wind mills at the old Fairless Hills US Steel plant. It's a SPANISH owned company.  :grinyes:
