Quick search turned up this

$2500 for E cating including shipping. I didn't look at the details too much and it is for a different car style, but I don't see why they wouldn't do it for you. I am guessing the transportation included is from their shop to the ecoater. Be sure to add in the cost of chemical stripping before you can ecoat. Here locally a total body dip strip is around $3000.

I seem to remember MCR offering the service of the strip and ecoat together, but now their website states it is only a added service on one of their restorations. I think their total added cost was well over $5K. For my money plastic media blasting or soda  for $1000-$1500 and then doing conventional paint work may be a better option if you are on any kind of budget.

I was planning on having my car akaline dipped but in the 3 years it has taken me to get to this point the price to dip has gone from $1400 to $2400. I can have it done locally but than you add in the cost of e-coating and my budget is blown.

The locals that I can find to e-coat have tanks that are 9x6x5 feet. Not sure it will be big enough to take the shell even with it completely stripped down.I am still waiting to get my measurement this weekend to see if it will fit. I have not got an estimate yet but I would think 2500 to 3 k would be about right.

Thanks
Much better price and I can have  it dipped and e-coated at the same place. The chemical dip process does involve heating up the metal. According to the web site its a gradually heating to around 800 degrees so there is no damage to the metal. Do you know anything about that?

I had my doors, hood, deck lid, fenders, quarter panel and K-Member stripped and e-coated at a place by Metro Airport in Michigan.  The hood has a lot of dents in it now, that I think was cause because they stacked other parts on it when they put it in the tank.  They also dropped one of my NOS fenders on the corner and bent it, so I would say they are not very careful with the parts. One thing though, when they strip it all the body caulk between the panels will be gone and you will have to replace it.  I also had the hood hinges done and since the bake the parts first, it took the temper out of the springs.  I had the shell sand blasted part because the cost would have been too much, and part because their tank was not big enough.

I talked with the guy up there today and your right the tanks not big enough to strip the car and the price to e-coat the shell is 2k. Add that to the $2400 to have it dipped locally and its just way over the top. I will have the shell blasted and the panels dipped and e-coated. I talk with the guy doing the body work for me and he suggested doing acid etching. I research that today and see.

This is probably a dumb qustion but why e coat a whole car? the paint shop I use has me strip the e coat off any new panels because they've had too much trouble with it peeling .

I have not heard of any trouble with the e-coating peeling. I wanted to e-coat the shell as a way to get into every nook and cranny for solid rust protection.

I guess I should have figured that, rust is such a minor issue around here I don't give it much thought.

I've never had any experience with any e coating except goodmark panels and stripping  it on the exterior makes sense to me. anywhere dolly it or tweak it to fit, which seems to be in quite a few places it cracks and peels. better to strip it all than find you didn't strip a spot you should have.

I also talked to the folks @ redi-strip (S.E. Mich) back in November as I wanted to dip & e-coat the 'cuda. at the time the price I got was $700 to dip the shell and $2600 for dip & e-coat.  the girl I talked to said their tank would handle the entire shell but ALL parts had to be unbolted. in other words, I couldn't leave the doors on or stack parts inside.

My car is from Oklahoma and is rust free (what's left after the accident), but I want to clean and protect inside all the rails, rockers, etc. and this is the only way I know of. Still $2600 is $2000 more than I can spend right now. I didn't ask, but maybe a 20" dip like the factory did would be cheaper and have the same protective results. the rest can be sprayed @ home.

If in a year the price is still close and I have the funds, I will surely do it as the end result will far outweigh the cost.
