Drive or trailer
« on: March 16, 2009 - 08:09:54 AM »
Do you drive or trailer your cars to shows? If you drive, how many miles are you willing to drive to a show?
When I started driving my road runner in '82, the majority of people drove their Mopars to car shows. It was a rarity to see trailers. I remember driving to the Mopar Nats (from Ct.). I drove my '70 6bbl. road runner to the Chrysler proving grounds (with 4.10 gears) in '85. It was a long hot trip, with a few on the road repairs made to get to Michigan and back. It gave us a lot of memories.

I say if you have the chance to drive it .....then drive it.
Just like you said, that's what makes the memories
We are only here for a short time, so make the best of it, and do what will make you happy in the end........after all, this is why we own these beauties in the first place....for the feeling it gives you while you are behind the wheel  :jumping:

I used to drive the piss out of my Chally. Just kept driving till I got lost, and then find my way out it it. I don't regret one second of all the miles I was able to put on it, and those are still great memories to this day

I guess for me . . . . . it depends on what car I'm driving and how far the show is.  I drive the convertible to the Mopar Nationals just about every year lately and I'm sure it would make it to Carlisle but I still trailer it because I need the space in the truck for all my stuff and its safer to have 2 vehicles.   The trunk in the convert is just not big enough?   ???   The hardtop has a stiffer gear and if its a local show, I will drive but if its any distance . . like over 100 miles, I'll trailer it.

Drove my '70 Challenger from Iowa to Ohio in '05 for the Nats. I was surprised to see most cars on trailers. I thought driving them was the fun part!!

I hope to drive mine to the shows.  Just seems more fun to do.  I have used a trailer in the past but was not as much fun,  I want mine as dependable as possible.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I don't own a trailer. The farthest I drove was to Carlisle. 155 miles one way.

The cuda has not been on a trailer since it was restored but I don`t drive it more than 1 hour to a show due to gears, stiff suspension and loud exhaust.I do plan on trailering it for the first time to Carlisle this summer as it`s an 8 hour trip one way from here.

I will drive 35-40 miles one way to a show. I usually trailer it if the show is further than that.   :cooldancing:

The wife and I have drove the 750 miles to the Mopar Nationals 2 years ago in our 68 Charger with a 500ci engine - lots of gas stops. One roadside repair of a bad battery connection. Last year we trailered the 68 Dart to the Nats because we needed space for Challenger Parts. This year we may drive the Challenger, or trailer depending on how things turn out between now and then. I would rather drive then trailer if possible.

I drive mine no matter what the distance. Currently I have 3.23 gears in the rear which makes it easier, but I did drive it 250 miles once when I had the 3.91 gears in it.

I've driven to all the shows I have attended.  That's what I enjoy the most.
I'm located in Southern Ontario and have been to Columbus & Milan, MI for past Mopar Nats.
On a long trip I tend to be a bit numb and hard of hearing when I stop to get out of my car.

I get about 10 mpg in easy cruise mode.  So it isn't too bad.  When I play with the go pedal, mileage drops considerably....   lol
