73 Duster WIW?
« on: March 19, 2009 - 01:33:22 AM »
Friend of the family, an older gentleman with no computer, that I am trying to help find a buyer for his '73 Duster project... Located in N/E Lauderdale Co. Lexington AL

What should we expect to get for this?  Fairly complete, had rusted floors but have been replaced , body pretty straight but I suspect bondo in the lower qtrs.  318 with 4barrel runs well, 3spd ato works well... brakes need attention.

 ALSO need value of
 Dissasemled 440 that needs rebuiding

 Big block 727

In this economy, I'd say about $3500.  If the economy was doing well, I would have said about $4500 - 5000.

I`d say more like $1500-2000 and I think that might be a little generous though it does have discs and a v8.

I paid $650 for my '73. It has a 318. Needed a new starter, new carpet and a new headliner. Everything else is good. It has decent paint with just a little bubble rust on the lower quarters and some small holes in the front floor pans. Then again, I got mine for a smoking deal. I agree with Gary and the torred...$1500-$2000.

What a coincidence - I paid $650 for my '73 too, but that was back in 1986.  :lol2:
I presently have it insured for $8k, but mine's in much better shape than this one (plus a 340, factory console, etc.). I'd say $1500-$2k for this one as have others here.  :iagree:

you know, appearances do so much to hurt a car. The floor paint job turns me off right away.

It tells me that the owner accepted a level of quality WAAAYYY below mine. Painting over the brake pedal and the heater box just begs the question, "what else did they shortcut"? I passed on a 70 Cuda that had an underhood spray job done on it. Sprayed over the hoses and all. Its just distracting to me.

If it runs good drives good, AC works? and no major rust maybe 2K?

Cute girl by the way

I sold a 73 Duster 2 years ago when the economy was better that was straight and rust free with a new harness, disk brakes  (new master, booster and calipers), 8 3/4 rear and a 383 magnum automatic, that needed the seats reupholstered, headliner and paint for $3500. I'll see if i can find pics of it later today. That being said i would say this one is worth about $1500.
