Optima's are dry cell batteries, you can do a search online and find some others.  Don't know if they are as good  and what the price difference is.

I ended up buying a blue top today, they are 159 with a 20 dollar mail in rebate at costco. I'll never buy a regular battery again after the one in my tractor went KABOOOOOOOOOM. An optima i had sitting around for 10 years on a trickle charger fired my tractor right up.

When I bought mine years ago I read it was a dry cell and they also said that at the store.

The red top is all I have experience with and its as heavy as a wet cell. Dry cells are supposed to be light. My red tops are not light at all.

    :iagree:

Yes, they weigh a bit for sure.   :grinyes:  They are gel cell. They stand up to vibrations better than the wet cell batteries.

Which post confirgurations are available? I prefer them closer to the fender to keep the wires out of the engine bay as much as possible. Summit shows them opposite in the picture. Customer service had no information regarding available options.

Mine is mounted posts towards the engine. I'm not sure if they have a configuration where you can turn the battery 180* and still have your stock cables fit....I somehow doubt it.

I had an Optima red that lasted over 10 years. I highly recommend them  (even in the desert)

Just found this website. Turns out they do make a "reverse post" configuration.
