Hood trim pictures needed please?
« on: March 22, 2009 - 03:18:07 PM »
Hi !
I just got a T/A repop hood and was looking on e-bay at the molding on the front       ( nose) The trim I have now off my stock flat hood is held in with "studs" that float in the trim and sheet metal "nuts" How does the T/A hood trim fasten( or R/T ? ). On e-bay it looks like the T/A has an extra flange that screws onto the hood from the bottom? No studs? I looked at 2 auctions one for a T/A and the other for a R/T molding? The pictures are the same for the T/A and the R/T moldings?Just the price?? See links below?

The 1970 molding itself is the same. Longer mounting studs are needed for the T/A hood because the fiberglass is thicker. Tom at R/T Specialties sells the studs if the molding you have is in good shape.

1971 trim attached via screws from the bottom on steel hoods.

If someone has one of the scarce 1971 Challengers with the T/A hood, it used the 1970 style.

If I had to buy new trim wouldn't it be easier to use the 71 trim and screw it on from the bottom on a T/A hood?

There is no place to screw the 1971 style flange to on a T/A hood.

Aren't the trim profiles slightly different from 70 to 71..........

Yes, 1971 has an extra character line.
