Repro front frame rails for e-bodys?!
« on: March 23, 2009 - 01:37:51 AM »
Ok, so I've been looking at front rails since I patched a decent sized hole in my left front rail. I don't have to have one as I know the patch and reinforcement are good, but if I saw a good price kind of a thing. Then I saw these on ebay...

Looks like someone is finally reproducing these! First one states its produced by Dynacorn, anyone have any experience with these guys? Not sure about the second one, although I would imagine it would be the same. Anyone know of a non-eBay source?

Dynacorn is the company that is making the repro Camaro and Mustang bodies. They have a little experience in this sort of stuff. :grinyes:

I spoke with a sales rep at the Barrie auto fleamarket last summer and they are planning a whole "body in white" for around 15k. They sounded serious but time will tell?

Well. I spoke to Dynacorn and they are avialable at both of their warehouses, Here is the tricky part , they list them for 70-74 as we all know the the 70 apron is different than the 71-74 as well as the frame rail are from 70-72 vs.73-4 these are based off of 70. which now is an issue for all of the guys/gals that want these for the 71-74. ?? I have a couple calls into getting some actual pictures of these, stay tuned for these.

I know the aprons are slightly different but what is the difference in frame rails for a 70 vs 71-74?

you have 2 problems with these. one they are advertising them 70-74 but basing them off of 70, the rails are the same upto 72. two, the aprons. If you dont mind changing the bumper set up if your using them on a 73-74 then your ok.

We've always used the front frame clip from a 71 or 72 Charger to repair our Cudas. They're the same as a 71-72  e-body. Of course, even decent 71-72 Charger shells are starting to get a little scarce nowadays. I better hang on to the rust free one that I have left.

Who was the guy on here that told me that I was nuts when I mentioned last year that the new bodies were going to be available soon?

Depends on how much of the rail you need. If you don't mind swapping the shock towers you can get the bare rails for $536...

This is just the first company to come out with them too. If there's an interest, and I'm sure there will be, we might see other manufacturers work on it as well.

you have 2 problems with these. one they are advertising them 70-74 but basing them off of 70, the rails are the same upto 72. two, the aprons. If you dont mind changing the bumper set up if your using them on a 73-74 then your ok.

Don't most of the folks with 73-74's want the earlier bumper anyway? Always see everyone taking off the crash pads and trying to tuck the bumpers in. And from a money standpoint, there are a lot more '70 and '71's than 73-74's...

I'm interested how they fit. I'll have to keep looking until someone actually uses them. My rail works fine now that its patched and braced, so I'm in no hurry. But it'd be nice to have a replacement in there at some point.

:iagree: I guess like you said we will have to wait for some one to go for it to find out. Looks very interesting though. :2thumbs:

Don't look back, I might be gaining on you.
