My computer went dead
« on: March 23, 2009 - 07:54:18 AM »
So I come home very sick from a job and yesterday morning I plug my office computer back up to the wall and it never booted up again.  Man that sucked. So sick as I was, I had to drive all the way into town and purchase another mother board, then swap everything over to it and get it booted back up. It seemed like it took 4 hrs since I wasnt feeling good. Not an easy task as it is anyways. But I am up and running again with all the drive working right now.

I feel if I would of taken it to a shop for repairs, they would of said virus or something and charged the crap out of me. 110 bucks for another board and I upgrade a bit to another sata dual layer dvd burner so as to have 2 cd roms, to make things go quicker.

Laptops are ok, but big home type puters are where it's at :2thumbs:

Smart move my friend fixing that yourself.   I have 35 computers that I take care of and I'm currently working on one that is full of virus.  You need to be careful where you surf.    :nono:

So, when my mother board went down, it took HP almost a month to get me a replacement mother board.
What brand do you have that you can just go down to town and pick up a new mother board?

4Cruizin, where are we not supposed to surf the net at?  Are there specific sites or generic locations that we should stay away from in order to not get virus's.

The one that went out was an  M2N-E  ASUS...   I went to an  M3A78 ASUS   The usb stuff on my board was over volting and the sound had been buzzing for a while.

I can get many different types of anything you want Josh.  And maybe ship it to you if need be.

Interesting. I will keep that in mind next time I have a crash or something weird.
I am not a computer guru, but I have watched many a tech take apart my computer and
I am not afraid of replacing any part on a computer.  Seems like there is really only a couple dozen
components in the computer anyway.

Glad you got your computer back up.  Hope you get to feeling better soon.
