Actually, late model big block water pumps have the inlet on the same side (right) as small blocks.
I meant that it was already mentioned by Brett.....about needing a BB radiator.

Hey, I have one of those big block water pumps with the outlet on the opposite side. I always thought it was an early design or some sort of industrial engine design, never thought about it but the Chrysler blue should have told me it was a later design. They would still have the outlet on the opposite side on the bottom though right?

And we hate to rain on the parade anymore concerning $$$$$ but most likely your rear end is an 8-1/4". If it is not an 8-3/4" you will either have to drive fairly easy (hard to do with a BB) or swap one in and will have to be a suregrip style to take advantage of the big increase in power and torque

I myself would change the rod bolts. I have no faith in 32 YO rod bolts. You can change them one at a time if you take the pan off. For what they cost it's good insurance against a stretched out bolt and a nut that backs off and falls in the pan when the motor is run harder than it ever was before. If they've already been removed and re-torqued in a rebuild they are definately stretched. Some might say they should be resized whenever the bolts are changed but they have a round shoulder that pilots through the rod and cap so the position of the cap will not change. I've changed them and even main cap bolts with no subsequent machine work and never had a failure, but I've lost a motor to a stretched out old stock bolt before. Found the rod nut laying in the pan.  :grinyes:

Where is the best place to get the Holley street dominator intake and Kengle 56 cam?  I'm going this evening to pick up an 8 3/4 rearend not sure what gear .  I have new 410 gears in the 8 3/4 narrowed rearend (the car was minitubbed but that is coming out) but would prefer a 3 something.  Any body needing the set up, I am selling it to buy more parts.  The rearend has the new 5 star cragars with new tires 17 1/2 inches wide and as stated the narrowed 8/34 rearend with new 410 gears. Thanks, dano

The funny thing I had just order a few hundred dollars worth of parts last night.  It may not be as bad as it looks.  I may get to go to another position in my field ???  Let's hope.

:dunno:I have a question guys.  I have decided to continue with my car until I for sure about what is happening about my job.  I am taking the tubbs out and replacing the narrowed rearend with a positraction.  I bought the housing, cleaned and painted it.  I am in the process of replacing all brake parts.  The backing plates that hold the brake pads etc.  were not on the housing.  My question is in putting them back on do they go between the axel plate and the housing or what?   I am new to this part so all help is appreciated.  Thanks, Dano
