Saw an ad for an instructor and I am applying for it!!!!
« on: March 24, 2009 - 10:37:13 AM »
I just got an e-mail from the project manager for the company that I was working for asking for my performance evaluation from last year.  He said he did not have all of it so I forwarded it to him.  I am glad I brought all of that info with me.  Maybe I will get word soon if I get to go back or not.     Not that I want to but it seems not many jobs are available right now and plus I would get to finish getting all of my parts for my car sooner.   :woohoo:  and might get a new car as well.  Gordon

I got an e-mail yesterday that said that we were not going to get a new contract now and did not know when we would get one so now it is time for me to find a job around here.  Going to use all of the tools I have to find a good job.  Was not really wanting to go back over there but the money was good.  Gordon

:2thumbs: Glad you get to stay. You'll find a job. A positive attitude and the skills you have, you'll be fine. Just stay off of that negativity train. I know it can be tough these days, but a positive attitude can take you miles in the right direction and you can do the rest.

Now, at least get some pics of that car, started or not. :stirpot:

Now I find out that I may have to pay 22,000 in taxes for last year or more.  I hope they find something out good for me where I dont have to pay that much.

I thought any money earned over seas was tax free, or is that just the military?  I thought that's why so many contractors were trying to get over there.

Sorry to hear that Gordon. Was there a time requirement overseas that was not met? I dont know if I heard right but to be tax free requires like 12 or 18 months minimum away from home.

Well what it is that only part of it is tax free.  Yes it is for a 12 month period.  I hope they find some things that will help for me.

Wow Gordon, I'm surprised. When my friend was working overseas the company with held his taxes and he just got a substantial return at the end of the year. I'm curious about the legalities of your company not with holding your taxes even with the initial tax free allowance. :dunno:

I don't have any first hand experience. The last time I worked overseas I was in uniform. I hope you get a good resolution to that one.

My taxes runs about the same as yours did. But my employer holds mine out.  Did you sign into a 1099 form of contract or something?  That's a form that says you are responsible for paying your own taxes and all the employer does is give you a form saying the grand total for the year, then he reports it to the IRS.  That bites if you did a 1099 and dint understand what it would involve.

Yeah that would suck. A 1099 says you will pay your taxes personally, usually once a quarter is how I was supposed to do it. Hope thats not the case but if it is the case it will be good now to get it over with while you still have the money instead of later when you have depleted the cash. That would be a double whammy if it hit you later down the line.

I just got some more info on my job overseas.  It sounds as the main Project manager is going to find out something in a week or so.  I may go back

As for as a Job I have a masters degree in Education and I have several other degree's in automotive and electronic's.  I have been an automotive instructor for several years and that is the best fit for me.
